Who is Patrick Khaziran? 'Amazing' doctor trusted by the Kardashians and Logan Paul is now behind bars
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Kardashians' on-screen chiropractor, Dr Patrick Khaziran, popularly known as 'Dr Pat', is behind bars for fraud.
Despite his appearances in the latest episode of 'The Kardashians', where Scott Disick, accompanied by Khloe Kardashian, visited his Los Angeles office, Dr Pat is facing a period of imprisonment.
This development adds a layer of complexity to his previous work with celebrities such as Kevin Hart, Logan Paul, and Jamie Foxx.
What did Patrick Khaziran do?
As per legal documents, Dr. Patrick Khaziran, 41, is accused of orchestrating a series of deceptive actions involving the fabrication of invoices directed at a minimum of 22 former NBA players.
These falsified invoices were then submitted to the respective insurance providers of the players.
The illicit activities conducted by Khaziran, targeted at defrauding the NBA's Players' Plan, unfolded over a long period, spanning from 2016 to 2019, and involved a total of 18 former NBA players.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has outlined that Khaziran collaborated in this fraudulent conspiracy alongside former NBA player Terrence Williams.
Williams, who had a career with the New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, and Sacramento Kings before retiring in 2013, was sentenced in August to a 10-year prison term.
What are the charges against Patrick Khaziran?
Dr Patrick Khaziran was found guilty of forging documents that falsely indicated former NBA players had received medical services that were never administered.
His charges included conspiracy to commit health care and wire fraud, as well as aggravated identity theft.
Additionally, Dr Patrick Khaziran and Terrence Williams collaborated with former Utah Jazz assistant coach Keyon Dooling in this fraud scheme.
Dooling, sentenced to 30 months in prison for his involvement, became part of the conspiracy later.
Notably, a significant number of 13 former players implicated in the case have pleaded guilty to related charges, with many receiving "time served" or probation as part of their sentencing.
The deceptive practices extended to authorizing charges on debit cards issued by the NBA Plan to these players, as outlined by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
In total, Khaziran accumulated $1.3 million by charging for medical services that were never administered.
He collaborated with Terrence Williams and Keyon Dooling in this scheme, with the trio sharing the illicit profits.
Khaziran personally received $439,000 for his participation in the fraudulent activities, according to the DOJ.
