Who is Patrick Christys? Journalist says Meghan Markle wants to be 'high-class Kardashian' after Oprah interview
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s controversial tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey on CBS has been dominating headlines since it aired. And it has seen a polarizing effect. On the one hand, there are those who believe that the couple was wronged by the royal family. On the other hand, there are those who have called Markle a sucker for attention.
British journalist Patrick Christys, in a similar vein, likened Meghan "wanting to be a high-class Kardashian". Speaking to talkRADIO, Christys said, "Prince Harry who is an actual Prince comes in to join his wife. He should be the star of the show. Who is this woman? She's just a Poundland [a British variety store chain founded in 1990, selling most items at the single price of £1] soap actress. She wants to be a high-class Kim Kardashian."

This was an opinion that has been shared by many on social media. One Twitter user said, “Oprah/Meghan was more like a Kardashian type TV show & I think doesn't deserve the level of attention it got of serious news.”
Amen. Meghan is nothing more than a Kardashian clone. https://t.co/4etMb1gJMZ

The whole thing, as I've said, is a Kardashian style circus. It's Harry that is the victim here. Man just wants to live his life in peace but he keeps getting dragged into the war with Meghan and the Royal Family.

Meghan Markle is a D-list Kardashian wannabe who had no business being with Harry in the first place #TeamRoyalty #TeamCambridge #TeamElizabeth

Comparisons with reality shows aside, the royal family 'drama' has also received commentary from reality show celebrities in the US. Bethenny Frankel, who rose to prominence as a contestant on the reality competition series ‘The Apprentice: Martha Stewart’, and later became a main cast member in the Bravo reality television series ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ had things to say about Markle.
She tweeted, prior to the interview: “Cry me a river...the plight of being a game show host, fairly unknown actress, to suffering in a palace, w tiaras & 7 figure weddings for TWO WHOLE YEARS to being a household name w @Oprah on speed dial, fetching 7 m for interviews, hundreds of millions in media deals.”

Frankel, however, apologized after the interview aired. She wrote: “I watched M & H sit down. Emotional distress & racism must feel suffocating & powerless. I’m a polarizing, unfiltered(often to a fault)flawed person w a voice. When I heard of the interview, during a pandemic, it felt like a surprising choice. I’m sorry if it hurt or offended you.”
