Twitter is a funny place where almost anything can become a trend for the most impractical reason. Most of the time, the microblogging service serves as a medium to hold important conversations and to deliver news to a larger audience in record time, however, this doesn't always stand true. Take sports anchor Mark Johnson for instance, who began to trend heavily on Twitter on April 20 night.

It all started when KTVB Network shared a post about him with just his name as the caption while there was no context to the report. In no time, Johnson became a laughing stock and sparked a meme fest on Twitter. Here's a look at who Johnson is.

Who is Mark Johnson?

According to Johnson's bio on KTVB's website, the sports broadcaster made a comeback to the channel after spending seven years at Milwaukee's WISN-TV where he won awards for the state's top sports stories in 1990, 1991 and 1992. He then moved on to spend a year at WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh where he covered the Steelers in the 1996 Super Bowl while anchoring the nightly sports.

Johnson worked with KTVB between 1983 and 1988 and in the spring of '96, he found himself going back to the network and this time as sports director, a title he held until December 2003. It was in this year where he was promoted as the news station's main anchor, a role that took him around the country and the world so he could cover stories that could interest Idahoans.
