Bills reporter Maddy Glab made some critical comments about Stefon Diggs without realizing the mic was on

BUFFALO, NEW YORK: Maddy Glab, a Buffalo Bills team reporter, found herself in hot water after a hot mic captured her making comments that appeared to cast wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a negative light. The incident unfolded in a video that quickly went viral on social media. 

In the video, Glab can be heard in the background discussing the team's efforts to secure Diggs for media availability. However, her comments took a disparaging turn as she remarked, "There's no control over Stefon Diggs. Dude's gonna do what he wants to do. He'll look in my face and say, 'F you.' How he treats everybody."

Maddy Glab issues apology

Following the circulation of the video, Glab took to social media to apologize for the incident. “I want to take ownership for what I said today. I am very sorry for what I said and meant no ill will,” she said.

“I respect the hell out of Stefon Diggs, and he has been one of my favorite players to cover. He has great character and treats us media with lots of respect. He takes time out of his day to talk to us, which he doesn’t have to do," she noted.

"For context, media was waiting for players to come out for press conferences when a reporter jokingly told me to go get Stefon Diggs. I said I don’t have control over him – Stef marches to the beat of his own drum and I love that about him," Glab added. 

“He has a playful relationship with our video department, so that’s why I said he probably wouldn’t say yes to me grabbing him for an interview. I should not have said what I said, and I apologize for that. Stef is not in the wrong, I am.” Neither Diggs nor the Buffalo Bills have publicly responded to Glab's comments at the time of this report.

Maddy Glab's comments leave internet in splits

As Glab's hot mic moment went viral, it elicited a bunch of responses on social media. One user tweeted, "It’s not like the reporter is wrong.." Another added, "Well I hope she enjoyed her time of having access to the team. They are definitely going to pull her credentials."

A third claimed, "That wasn't very bright." A user defended Glab and said, "I wouldn’t say that’s trashing him, it was just honesty." "How is this ‘talking trash?" questioned another. "He’s actually a great guy," read a tweet.
