Soccer star Kevin De Bruyne is one of the most decorated athletes on the planet, having helped Manchester City secure four Premier League titles in five seasons since joining the team in 2015. However, not much is known about the love of his life, Michele.

The Belgian midfielder, 31, started his career in his native country, where he played for Genk before moving to the Premier League with Chelsea. He subsequently moved to Wolfsburg in Germany in 2014, and it was during his stint with the team that he met his future wife. De Bruyne and Michele tied the knot three years later in 2017 and have two sons and a daughter together.

Who is Kevin De Bruyne's wife?

De Bruyne first met Michèle (née Lacroix) in 2014. The athlete revealed in a 2019 interview with The Players' Tribune that the couple met through Twitter. "It started with a tweet. I only had a few thousand followers at the time, because I was still on loan at Werder Bremen," he recalled. "So I tweeted something about a match or whatever, and this pretty girl favorited it. I was single at the time, and my friend noticed it. So he said, 'She looks like a nice girl, no? You should send her a message.'"

De Bruyne, however, admitted that he "didn't even have the heart to slide into my future wife's DMs," so his friend wrote a message on his behalf and sent it across. "Thankfully, he sent the message for me, and she responded," the midfielder gushed. "We got to know each other over text for a few months. It's a lot easier for me once I get to know someone, so after that, I was good. It really was a beautiful thing."

The soccer star, who has won Premier League Player of the Year twice, proposed to the love of his life in December 2016 at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The couple eventually took the holy vows in Sorrento, Italy, on June 26, 2017. Michèle shared a photo of the couple kissing following the nuptials and captioned the post "26.06.2017." Kevin also uploaded a photo of his own and wrote, "So proud I can call you my wife now!"

De Bruyne posted a tribute to Michèle on their first anniversary in 2018. He described their first year of marriage as an "amazing year with many more to come" and called his wife his "partner in crime."

As mentioned, the doting couple has three children together. Michèle reportedly became pregnant with their first child during the transfer window in 2015. De Bruyne would later describe that period as an "extremely stressful time" for his family. Mason Milian was born in March 2016, and they welcomed their second son Rome in October 2018. De Bruyne paid tribute to his wife during his interview with The Players' Tribune, saying she "changed my life in so many ways. Honestly, I don't know what I would do without her." The pair would subsequently welcome their third child and first daughter Suri in September 2020.

Michèle is highly supportive of De Bruyne's career. After Manchester City won the Premier League in 2018, she posted a photo of herself holding the Premier League trophy alongside her husband and son on Instagram. Furthermore, she also supports the soccer star when he's on international duty. After Belgium was knocked out of the 2018 World Cup by France, Michèle shared a photo of herself with the colors of the Belgian flag on her face, comforting her husband and son.

That said, Michèle is currently a co-host of the Secret Society podcast, which is in Dutch and invites a variety of Dutch and Belgian celebrities to chime in on various issues. According to the podcast's Spotify page, guests have included actress Lize Feryn, DJ and model Luna Stevens and photographer Marie Wynants, People reported.
