Who is Katie McGrath? George Stephanopoulos and wife Ali Wentworth share deep connection with ‘Star Wars’ director JJ Abrams

If George is a daytime host and a revered political commentator, Ali has made her mark as an actress and now as a producer with the Brooke Shields documentary ‘Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields'. Courtesy of her fame, Ali has made many influential and famous friends over the years, and one of her oldest and most steady friends has been Katie McGrath.
Ali and Katie have known each other for 30 years and their friendship tinkers on the lines of a family bond. George and Ali often spend time with Katie and her family which includes the famous Hollywood director, JJ Abrams. Ali and Katie have grown up together and usually spend all the holidays together. However, it was only recently that Ali posted a few birthday snaps for Katie, revealing the depths of their friendship to her followers.
Who is Katie McGrath?
Katie McGrath is a PR executive and the wife of the famous filmmaker JJ Abrams. During her professional career, Katie has worked as an aide for the late Senator Ted Kennedy in Washington and takes an active interest in foreign policy discussions. Once in 2008, McGrath and Abrams hosted a salon that was attended by foreign policy specialists as well as those in show business. Hailing from Brewer, Maine, McGrath met Abrams through a mutual friend and later tied the knot in 1996.

McGrath has three children with Abrams and is believed to have ultimately convinced her husband to direct 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'. McGrath met Ali Wentworth almost three decades ago while she was pursuing her education and the duo have since never lost touch. Their families often spend time together and McGrath leaves no stone unturned to support Ali’s ventures, especially the new documentary on Brooke Shields.

Ali celebrates her long-time friend Kate McGrath’s birthday
Ali recently took to Instagram to share a few snaps of her friend McGrath on her birthday. She captioned her post, “Happy Birthday to my chosen sister! A lifer! 30 years of true friendship. Love you so…,” showcasing her love for her long-time friend. The duo usually celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve together with each other’s families and make a conscious effort to stay in each other’s lives. However, Ali and Kate’s friendship is not under the constant gaze of the media and the duo shares a great off-the-screen friendship, given their husbands’ glaring media and entertainment jobs.
