'Daredevil: Born Again' trailer drops surprising Jessica Jones twist and teases Punisher's final mission
Since 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 premiered on March 24 on Disney+, fans have been waiting with bated breath to see Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) in the gritty superhero drama. The private investigator was last seen in Season 3 of the self-titled Netflix series, which premiered in 2019, and is set to appear on the small screen after a seven-year hiatus. The excitement for her return is palpable as fans want to see her team up with Daredevil, aka Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), as he assembles his resistance force against Mayor Fisk's corruption. Disney+ gave fans a glimpse of the Power Woman in the show's latest trailer, released on April 6, which shows the superhero ready to take on Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), and his thuggish anti-vigilante task force (AVTF).
As Season 2 approaches its halfway point, Fisk's AVTF is seen running rampant across the city and terrorizing citizens as "all hell breaks loose." The brutish police force gets trashed by Benjamin 'Dex' Poindexter, aka Bullseye (Wilson Bethel), in the opening sequence, and apparently shows up at Jones's doorstep as well. She complains to Murdock while delivering the jaw-dropping line, "They showed up in my house, with my daughter there," and follows it up by saying, "I'm pissed." While Jones did not name her daughter in the clip, it's clearly Danielle Cage, as comic fans may remember that she and Luke Cage have a child named Danielle. Moreover, Mike Colter will reportedly reprise his role as Luke Cage in Season 2, bringing Jones and Cage together for a shared mission to save the city. Colter has also been spotted filming for the third season of 'Daredevil: Born Again,' which is currently under production. The trailer ends with Murdock telling Jones to prepare for a "bloodbath," to which she said, "Then this should be tons of fun."
Daredevil will need all the help he can to take down Fisk as the Kingpin tightens his grip over the city. Jones is poised to be a formidable ally to Daredevil, as her own past trauma from Kevin Thompson, aka Kilgrave (David Tennant), has informed her desire to protect innocent people from evil forces, like the mayor. In the Netflix series, she was forced to face her past demons and overcame her post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and alcoholism to help others in similar situations. Jones works as a private investigator in New York, and Season 2 of 'Daredevil: Born Again' will likely showcase her personal life as she joins other superheroes to end Mayor Fisk's reign. The trailer also teases Frank Castle, aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), whose documentary special 'The Punisher: One Last Kill' will premiere on May 12 on Disney+, a week after the Season 2 finale. Watch episode 4 of 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 at 9 p.m. ET this Tuesday on Disney+.
