Who is Jamie Wood? Ronnie Wood's son accuses him of 'no loyalty' due to alcohol issues
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: In a candid interview with The Times, Jamie Wood, the son of the Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, opened up about the profound effect his parents' divorce had on him, revealing that it left him feeling devastated and with a sense that there was a lack of loyalty from his father.
Jamie, who is now 48 years old and a father of three himself, grew up in the midst of his father's world of fame and the complexities that came with it. Although he is Ronnie's adopted son, he was raised alongside the musician, his own mother Jo Wood, and three siblings, Leah, Tyrone, and Jesse, out of whom Jesse's mother is Krissy Findlay.
Growing up in a world of rock-n-roll
Growing up in an unconventional family, Jamie Wood expressed how he felt like he was “always second” compared to his father Ronnie Wood, who seemed to prioritize his music career and fame above everything else. Jamie's upbringing was characterized by constant movement, attending 17 schools in various countries due to his father's rock 'n' roll lifestyle. Moreover, his father “always came first” in the family.
He also reminisced about early mornings with famous guests like Christopher Reeve and Michael J Fox in their home. Jamie revealed that Keith Richards had a profound part to play in introducing him to the drugs scene.
Speaking of his father, Ronnie Wood, he said, "There was no loyalty. He was off drunk." However, Jamie said of his father, “Dad was god,” but the fame came at a cost. Ronnie's status isolated Jamie from having normal friendships – other parents were hesitant to let their children visit the Woods' house.
In 2011, Jamie faced another challenging chapter when his parents' divorce became public and tumultuous. Ronnie's infidelity led to the separation, which occurred in 2009 after 24 years of marriage. The divorce proceedings played out in the media, adding further strain to Jamie's already complicated family dynamics.
