James Earl 'Boobie' Miles: 'Friday Night Lights' star arrested for allegedly choking ex-wife Becca
ODESSA, TEXAS: James Earl 'Boobie' Miles, the famed star of 'Friday Night Lights' has been arrested for allegedly choking his ex-wife. The 52-year-old was arrested on three felony counts — assault on a family or household member, violation of a protective order, and possession of marijuana in Odessa, Texas, on Wednesday, March 1. Miles' ex-wife, Becca Miles, called 911 alleging that her ex-husband was choking her, according to a police report.
Apparently, Becca was found unconscious in the passenger seat of a vehicle in front of Miles’ house when police arrived at the scene. She had cuts on her hand and showed marks on her neck consistent with being choked. With the help of the police, she gained consciousness, but she was having a hard time breathing and struggled to speak through her pain.

After being taken to Odessa Regional Medical Center, she said she had been in Odessa for a few days working on her relationship with Miles, but they began to argue because she wanted to stay one more night. Miles was uncooperative with police and had to be taken into custody with the help of a canine officer, according to the Odessa Police Department report. Currently, he is in the Ector County Detention Center where he will be detained for the time being.
Who is James Earl 'Boobie' Miles?
James Earl 'Boobie' Miles gained fame as a star on the Permian High School football team in Odessa. The 1990 best-seller 'Friday Night Lights' by H G Bissinger revolved around this high school football team. This non-fiction book was adapted first into a feature film and then into a highly popular television series. Miles was a character in the film played by Derek Luke which mirrored his life as a football star who suffers a serious knee injury and is never able to return to 100%. The injury dashed his dreams of playing college and pro football.

Since his famous day, Miles has run into numerous problems with the law. He has 16 prior arrests and eight convictions for things such as aggravated sexual assault, domestic violence, criminal mischief, interfering with an emergency request for assistance, and marijuana possession. He was also arrested in January 2022 in Ector County and January 2023 in Taylor County on suspicion of failing to comply with the sex offender duty to register for life or annually, a third-degree felony. He was also arrested in January 2023 in Taylor County for allegedly violating a protective order.
