Who is Halle Berry's new boyfriend Van Hunt? Here's what we know about the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter
Halle Berry seems to have finally revealed the mystery man whom she has been dating. On Thursday, September 17, she posted a photo on Instagram, dressed in a paperboy cap and a t-shirt which read: “Van Hunt”. The caption read: “now ya know..” along with a heart and foot. While this may be her clue to her fans and the world about her love life.
According to E online, Berry has been teasing her followers since July. On July 19, she posted a photo featuring her feet and those of, probably, the mystery man she is dating, and captioned it: "sunday, funday” with a red heart emoji. Then on August 16 she posted a similar photo and wrote, "Waking up Vegas! Thank you for all the beautiful birthday wishes from my friends and my very supportive and loyal fans! You ALL helped to make my birthday extra special." In her recent photo she did tag Hunt. Hunt also posted the same photo and captioned, “there you go...link n bio @vanhunt” – the latter part was a reference for buying his merchandise. While she directly hasn’t spelt it out, fans have assumed Hunt is the man.
One fan commented on her post, “He's a good Ohio boy! Oh, and a freaking musical genius! Congrats!!” Another said, “Wow loved van hunts music for 20 plus years, great musician, and such a cutie you guys make a great couple!!” An excited fan wrote: “So happy for you Halle , you are so deserving of unconditional love.” Berry's trainer and close friend, Peter Lee Thomas, wrote: “The greatest guy I know” with a red heart emoji. Berry answered back with a red heart emoji.
Berry’s representative did not immediately respond to People’s request for comment. And, Hunt had no comment, as per People.
Who is Van Hunt?
Hunt is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and singer. At 7, he took up drums, and saxophone at the age of 8, and then learned to play the bass and keyboards. Hunt has been playing the guitar and writing songs since he was a teenager, according to Hollywood Life. He won a Grammy for R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for ‘Family Affair’ and was as nominated for a Grammy for Urban/Alternative Performance for his song ‘Dust’.
On August 30, he posted a photo of him getting kissed on the cheek by a woman – who is assumed to be Berry. In the span of 16 years, Hunt has released five albums which include his self-titled debut in 2004 and 2006’s ‘On the Jungle Floor’ via Capitol Records which earned him a lot of recognition, according to Hollywood Life. His most recent studio album was 2017’s ‘Popular’ with Blue Note Records. Hunt self-released a compilation of outtakes in 2009 called ‘Use in Case of Emergency’.
As per an Essence interview in 2015, Hunt said, if not a musician, he would be doing something in “applied mathematics or astrophysics”. As per the interview, Hunt was an English major at Morehouse before leaving to pursue music. When asked what he learned from women, he had said, “I’ve learned that women have been able to turn the tables in that way within our very misogynistic society. Many men are chauvinistic simply because they’re dismissive of a woman’s ability to help them and even in some cases to even harm them.” He also said during the interview that his favorite pastime is boxing.
During an April 2020 Instagram Live with her friend Lena Waithe, Berry spoke about her love life and parenting, as per Daily Mail. “I've learned a lot being with my children. They are the best company for me right now, and when I divorced Maceo's dad I've been pretty alone by myself going on three years now. Decidedly so, for sure.” She also said, “I have decided to take time. I'm very much a relationship-oriented person, I always want to be with someone. But I decided, no I'm going to slow my roll, I'm going to take a minute and I'm going to spent time with me. And it's been so great that I think I might stay like this!”
Berry was previously married to Eric Benet, David Justice and Olivier Martinez. She shares 6-year-old son, Maceo Robert Martinez, with the French film director and 12-year-old daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry, with her ex Canadian model Gabriel Aubry.
