Ellen Page on Tuesday, December 1, took to Twitter and came out as Trans. He said, "Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot." The 'Umbrella Academy' actor in a heartwarming letter shared, "I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life," adding "I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey."

Elliot, who is married to dancer Emma Portner, met her over Instagram. The couple's love story is an endearing one along with being one of the most prominent queer marriages on the planet. Let's take a look at how Elliot and Emma came together.

Who is Emma Portner?

Emma, a renowned professional dancer, is also Canadian like her husband Elliot. Hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, she's a choreographer who has worked with the likes of Justin Bieber and starred in the pop star's 'Life Worth Living' video and Purpose world tour. She is, according to Dance Spirit, one of 13 young choreographers "changing the dance world." She was also named 2012's Young Choreographer Of The Year at the American Dance Awards.

Emma, who has trained with the National Ballet School Of Canada and New York's Ailey School, now runs her own dance company named Emma Portner and Artists. She also teaches at the Broadway Dance Centre. In 2012, she went viral with her 'Dancing In The Dark' video. She's also the youngest woman ever to choreograph a musical lending her skills to the West End show 'Bat Out Of Hell' in 2017.

How did Elliot and Emma meet?

Emma met her husband Elliot on Instagram in March 2017 after she posted a video to a song by Sylvan Esso. When the band shared the video, it immediately caught the 'Inception' actor's attention who messaged Emma. The couple became official back in May 2017.

Speaking to The Cut about her relationship, Emma said, "If anything, I’m happy for it. We try to hold hands in public. I try to join him at movie premieres. If we were a straight couple, I don’t think we’d push it so much. But it’s a chance for queerness to be out in the open."

Emma and Elliot announced their marriage on January 3, 2018 in a touching Instagram picture which they both posted. Elliot wrote, "Can’t believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife," while Emma added, "I get to call this incredible woman MY WIFE! @ellenpage I LOVE YOU!"
