Who is Diddy's lawyer? Singer accused of years of rape and abuse by singer Cassie in lawsuit
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the wake of explosive allegations leveled against Sean "Diddy" Combs by his ex-girlfriend R&B singer Cassie, one figure stands at the forefront of the legal battleground – Benjamin Brafman.
The renowned attorney has been thrust into the spotlight as he vehemently defends the influential hip-hop producer and mogul against accusations of years-long abuse and rape.
Who is Cassie?
Cassie, whose legal name is Casandra Ventura, filed a lawsuit in a New York federal court, claiming that Combs subjected her to a tumultuous relationship that began when she was 19 and he was 37 in 2005.
The lawsuit alleges a disturbing pattern of “ostentatious, fast-paced, and drug-fuelled lifestyle."
The pair began dating in 2007, and their relationship remained on and off for over a decade.
In response to these serious allegations, Combs turned to Brafman to lead his legal defense. Brafman, a seasoned attorney with a reputation for representing high-profile clients, “vehemently denies the accusations, branding them as "lies."
“For the past six months, Mr Combs has been subjected to Ms Ventura’s persistent demand of $30 million, under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail,” he said.
"Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr Combs’s reputation and seeking a payday,” he added, as per STUFF.
What does the lawsuit against Sean 'Diddy' Combs state?
The lawsuit contends that he, "prone to uncontrollable rage", subjected her to "savage" beatings involving punching, kicking, and stomping.
It alleges that he provided her with drugs and compelled her to engage in sexual activities with other men while he masturbated and recorded them.
According to the lawsuit, as she attempted to terminate the relationship in 2018, Combs forced her into her Los Angeles home and committed rape.
“After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships," Cassie claimed.
“The truth, however, is that Cassie – Ms Casandra Ventura – was held down by Mr Combs and endured over a decade of his violent behavior and disturbed demands,” the lawsuit states.
