GENEVA, SWITZERLAND: Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh tied the knot with Jean Todt, the former CEO of Ferrari, in July 2023 after an enduring 19-year courtship. However, their marital bliss followed nearly three decades after Michelle's heartbreaking divorce from Dickson Poon. 

Dickson is a Hong Kong-based businessman and was born in a wealthy household. He did his schooling in Hong Kong and later studied economics and philosophy at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

In 1980, Dickson returned to his homeland and was appointed as the Executive Chairman of a jewelry company named Dickson Concepts. He is also the chairman and owner of Harvey Nichols. Dickson also co-founded the production company D&B Films.

His company introduced Michelle Yeoh in 1984 when they signed her for a television commercial alongside Jackie Chan. The ad helped Michelle get a break in movies and she made her debut in 1985 with 'Yes, Madam'.

Michelle started dating Dickson Poon soon after her debut in the Hong Kong film industry. They tied the knot in February 1988. While they were married, Michelle took a break from her career to focus on her marriage.

She wanted to become a mother and this desire was the beginning of the end of their marriage. During an interview with Bustle, Michelle said, "I loved the idea of having kids." 

However, Michelle found out that she couldn't conceive and the couple eventually filed for divorce in 1991. Michelle then resumed her career in films.

One netizen shared his disbelief, "Michelle Yeoh's ex husband's name is Dickson Poon? DICKSON POON!?" Another hilariously added, "Michelle Yeoh’s first husband was Sir Dickson Poon. Michelle met Jean Todt in 2004 in Shanghai and within a month they got engaged. After a courtship of nearly two decades, they tied the knot in July 2023.

Sharing her wedding pictures, the actress wrote on Instagram, "19 years and YES!! we are married!! Thkq to our ‘families’ who love us for all these years . We love you and here’s to many more to come."
