LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nick Jonas' mother Denise, along with her son, has a message for diabetic people.

The mother-of-four joined her son Nick in an Instagram post to raise awareness about the disease.

Denise joins Nick Jonas to share an important message 

It was Denise who appeared at the beginning of the video, opening up about her son’s diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes almost a couple of decades ago.

Nick then joined her and revealed that he had been experiencing “all the symptoms,” including frequent urination, excessive thirst, exhaustion and unexplained weight loss.”

“Nick was very enthusiastic as a child. He was very driven, so when he started to exhibit these signs, I was alarmed, but I think I was in denial,” Denise said.

In his caption, Nick mentions that his family and ‘especially’ his mom ‘noticed a change in me.'

“18 years ago, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. My family, especially my mom @mamadjonas, noticed a change in me & saw the four major signs that we now know are symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes,” he wrote.

Nick further said, “I was lucky enough to have this incredible support system around me that noticed these signs, helped me make the decision to get checked and ultimately saved my life. As a new father myself, I understand how important it is to be on the lookout for these signs as my daughter grows up.”



 

Nick Jonas educates on #SeeTheSigns message 

The ‘Close’ crooner while trying to spread awareness among his followers, talked about the #SeeTheSigns message.

Nick wrote, “Participate in our #SeeTheSigns campaign and join me in raising awareness about these often-missed symptoms of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and help save lives.”

Giving an insight into his journey, the 31-year-old said, "When I was first diagnosed, I was sitting in the hospital and was scared to death, honestly, while I was learning about how to manage this new thing I was dealing with.”

"It would have been amazing to have someone to look at at that time to say, oh, this is a person living with it and they're following their dreams,” he continued.

“They're doing what they want to do with their lives and not letting it slow them down," he concluded.
