Cush Jumbo and Sean Griffin were friends for years before their romantic journey began. In an interview with The Guardian, Jumbo shared, "I never thought he fancied me," highlighting the evolution of their relationship.
The turning point occurred when Jumbo's career soared in the US, and Griffin, without hesitation, accompanied her. Their friendship blossomed into marriage in 2014.
Reflecting on their unconventional wedding in 2018, Jumbo posted on Instagram, stating, "About 3 years ago, I married this beautiful man on this Broadway stage after my matinee of #theriver. It's still the Biggest, Bravest and Best thing I've ever done. #justdoit."
Notably, it marked Jumbo's Broadway debut.

A look at Cush Jumbo's life and career
Born and raised in London, Jumbo began dance classes at the age of 3, learning tap, ballet, and modern. She went on to learn street dance, contemporary, ballroom, and Latin in later years.
Jumbo never had it easy growing up. She came into the film business with rather modest expectations.
“I’ve been poor, I grew up poor, and although in my early years I never made any money, I never went into acting to make money. All I ever wanted was to not have to work as a waitress; to be able to act full-time and not owe anybody money," she said in an interview with The Guardian.
She started her career with theatre and made her Broadway debut in 2014 when she appeared in 'The River' by Jez Butterworth, alongside Laura Donnelly and Hugh Jackman.
CBS series 'The Good Wife' was the turning point of her career and she then also reprised her role in the series spin-off 'The Good Fight'.
The 38-year-old actress will be next seen sharing screen space with Peter Capaldi in British crime thriller series 'Criminal Record'. It is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on January 10, 2024.
