Chandler was born with a condition called achromatopsia. This is a rare genetic disorder that affects his vision and ability to perceive colors. In people with achromatopsia, the cone cells in the retina, which are responsible for detecting color and providing clear central vision, are either completely absent or severely deficient. As a result, Hallow sees the world in shades of black, white, and gray, without the ability to see colors.
Achromatopsia also causes severe sensitivity to bright light, a condition known as photophobia. When exposed to bright light, such as sunlight or harsh lighting conditions, Chandler may experience discomfort, pain, and even temporary blindness. Despite these challenges, Hallow has become a beloved figure in the YouTube community through his collaborations with MrBeast, and his positive attitude and dedication have made him an inspiration to many.
In addition to color blindness and photophobia, individuals with achromatopsia often face other visual abnormalities. One common issue is diminished visual acuity, which makes it difficult for them to see small objects and details clearly. During a podcast with Kwebbelkop, MrBeast revealed an intriguing story, saying, "This is a fun story: Chandler was actually our janitor. We brought him... to just clean and stuff like that."
According to Jimmy, Chandler was once "super shy" and even "terrified" to speak with him. However, fate had other plans for Chandler. In a 2017 YouTube video titled 'We Are Better Than Dude Perfect', he made his first appearance on the channel, marking the beginning of his transformation.
Following his debut, Hallow took the initiative to start his own YouTube channel. As of July 2023, his channel has amassed an impressive 66,900 subscribers and continues to grow, showcasing his own unique content and connecting with his dedicated audience.
