QUEBEC, CANADA: Celine Dion's sister, Claudette Dion, recently provided an update on the health of the renowned ‘Power Of Love’ singer. Celine had to cancel her world tour due to her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome. 

Claudette revealed that Celine, 55, is under the dedicated care of their sister Linda, and she is actively collaborating with specialized researchers who are well-versed in treating the rare condition. The family remains hopeful and supportive as they navigate this challenging situation.

‘We can't find any medicine that works’

Stiff person syndrome is an exceptionally rare and incurable neurological condition characterized by uncontrollable muscle spasms, affecting only one in every one million individuals. When news of Celine's cancellation of her world tour due to health issues surfaced in May, her devoted fans showed an outpouring of support. The singer had already rescheduled her planned performances after candidly sharing her diagnosis in December 2022.

She revealed to Le Journal de Montreal via SheMazing, "We can't find any medicine that works, but having hope is important. I honestly think that she mostly needs to rest. She always goes above and beyond [when performing], she always tries to be the best and top of her game. At one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It's important to listen to it. [Performing] is innate to her, she's disciplined in every area of her life”.

Claudette Dion, born December 10, 1948 is a Canadian singer. Celine and Claudette are the daughters of Thérèse Dion. In December, Celine Dion made a heartfelt revelation about her diagnosis of the rare neurological disorder, stiff person syndrome. This condition causes uncontrollable muscle tensing, progressively leading affected individuals to become akin to "human statues," leaving them unable to walk or speak.

Celine is resolute in her efforts to minimize the impact of the symptoms and manage the condition as effectively as possible. A source close to the singer shared with US Weekly that the diagnosis came as a surprise, but Celine has not lost her fighting spirit. She finds some comfort in finally understanding the specific challenge she is facing. Back in January 2022, Celine hinted at her health issues when she canceled the North American dates of her Courage world tour, raising concern among her fans and well-wishers.
