Who is Camilla Cleese? John Cleese's daughter reveals ‘Fawlty Towers’ reboot will ‘honor’ OG show and be ‘bit edgy’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: John Cleese's daughter Camilla teased new information about their upcoming 'Fawlty Towers' reboot as she admitted that the hilarious show will remain as ‘edgy’ as ever. The reboot was announced on Tuesday, February 7, more than 40 years after the iconic sitcom was last broadcasted.
It was revealed that 'Monty Python' actor John, 83, who played grumpy hotelier Basil Fawlty in the sitcom, and his comedian daughter, 39, have already begun working on new episodes of the former BBC program, which dominated the TV industry from 1975 to 1979. While much of the plot line remains shrouded in mystery, it was confirmed that the story will be about Basil’s relationship with his newfound daughter, according to DailyMail

Talking about the show, Camilla revealed that John won’t be doing any physical comedy but that the reboot will "honor the tone" of the original. "He won't be doing as much crazy physical, comedic things as before but you never know what you might see him do," she told The Sun. "There will be jokes that will be a little bit edgy but we're not out to get anyone, we don't dislike any people. That's not the basis of it. People are a little sensitive nowadays, to put it lightly. If anything we're making fun of the show's characters and their idiosyncrasies." She continued by admitting that the new series "may take three months, or three years" to write and produce.
This came after John revealed that the reboot won’t be returning to its original home on the BBC as he believes the organization has become too "woke." ‘‘I’m not doing it with the BBC because I won’t get the freedom. I was terribly lucky because I was working for the BBC in the late 60s, 70s, and beginning of the 80s and that was the best time because the BBC was run by people with real personality... But I believe it’s become far too dominated by people who are frightened of offending people," he told GB News’ Dan Wootton. He also admitted that he is excited to work with his daughter.
