Who is Aubrey Huff? Steve Hofstetter reminds MLB champion about his ‘monumentally stupid tweet’ from 2017
Remember the time when American professional baseball player Aubrey Huff got entangled in a controversy following his infamous tweet about protests at the airports in 2017? Well if you don’t, stand-up comedian Steve Hofstetter is here to remind you of it. The ‘MLB Now’ panelist took to Twitter to share a screengrab of the deleted tweet, which has yet again dragged Huff into social media trend cycle, for all the wrong reasons.
Here’s what Huff tweeted in 2017
In 2017, Huff had shared a tweet to express his opinion about the protests at the airports following President Trump’s executive order to ban travel to the US from seven nations that were subjected to visa restrictions during Barack Obama’s administration. He wrote on Twitter, “I mean seriously what the hell is going on? If you have time 2 march, protest, and riot. Maybe It’s time for something called a job!”
The tweet stirred a range of reactions on Twitter. He eventually ended up deleting his entire account. Huff later explained himself to Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News saying, “I don't apologize for my political views, but I do apologize for rubbing this fancy little life in people's faces — making millions of dollars, retired, not having to sit in rush-hour traffic. That was childish. I'm sorry." On December 2, Hofstetter re-shared Huff’s tweet and wrote, “Aubrey Huff must have accidentally deleted this monumentally stupid tweet. Thankfully I saved it for him.”

The screenshot also consisted of the comedian’s original response to Huff’s deleted tweet, which reads, “HI Aubrey HUff! I protest and I have a bunch of jobs! I’m a panelist on MLB Network and host on FS1, two places that didn’t hire you.” Huff has recently been in the news for backing President Donald Trump claiming for votes to be recounted. He insisted that Trump would have won California if “legal votes were counted.” The MLB player is known for sharing tweets that often garner a lot of reactions.
In August, Huff received major backlash for praising a 17-year-old gunman who had been charged with murdering two Black Lives Matter protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He called the accused Kyle Rittenhouse a “national treasure”. He was slammed as a “psychopath”. His controversial tweet however received over 1,000 re-tweets and 2,000 likes.
Meanwhile, Hofstetter is being complimented for his sense of humor and for taking a jab at Huff. One tweeted, "Dude, you crack me up! Can’t believe I wasn’t following you! Cheers!" Another added, "Well guess what honey Little Miss Aubrey people of been looking for jobs for months so you can just shove that" One tweeted, "I’m not into baseball but I looked him up recently from another post. Just another Maga nut job!" One shared, "As a collector of baseball memorabilia, I can say that if I had ever collected anything of Aubrey Huff I would have lit all that s**t on fire and joyfully watched it burn at some point in the last 6 months."
