LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pop sensation Britney Spears' fascinating memoir, 'The Woman in Me', which spans more than 40 years of the 'Toxic' singer's life, was released on October 24.

The pop icon writes about Andrew Wallet who was a lawyer brought in to assist Britney's father Jamie Spears in handling Britney's estate and financial matters after a judge gave Spears custody of his daughter's finances and personal affairs because of alleged 'mental impairment'.

The 'Toxic' singer writes in her book that Wallet, the attorney in charge of Britney's conservatorship, was "eventually paid $426,000 a year for keeping me from my own money," per The Hollywood Reporter.

Andrew Wallet was appointed to help Britney's father Jamie Spears

Britney's father Jamie and a co-conservator Wallet had accountability for the singer's business and financial decisions since 2008 when the conservatorship was formally imposed.

Wallet claimed in 2018 court documents that the estate had made $20 million since he assumed the conservatorship. "At the beginning of the conservatorship, the estate was nearly out of fund and cash equivalents," he stated at the time.

According to Page Six, he requested (and received) a large pay increase to $426,000 per year in 2018.

He justified this by claiming that he kept Britney safe from drug exposure from the "hundreds of people" that were in her circle during the Circus Tour and her canceled Las Vegas residency.

Considering that people in similar positions have earned seven figures, he argued he was paid appropriately.

Wallet said at the time, "What I was paid was more than fair for what I was asked to do. In that world, professionals doing what I was doing would be getting over $1 million a year."

Jamie Spears asked the courts to rehire Andrew Wallet in 2020

Britney's father Jamie asked the courts to rehire Wallet in August 2020, while her conservatorship was being reevaluated, despite Britney's objections.

Britney's lawyers deemed Wallet "uniquely unsuitable" to handle her estate, particularly given her desire to never perform again when she stated she wanted her father removed from the conservatorship and replaced by her care manager Jodi Montgomery.

Britney writes in her memoir: "Even though I begged the court to appoint literally anyone else — and I mean, anyone off the street would have been better — my father was given the job, the same man who’d make me cry if I had to get in the car with him when I was a little girl."

"And the court told me I was demented, and I wasn’t even allowed to pick my own lawyer."

She claims that Wallet received $426,000 annually in compensation for handling her estate, and she also claims to have paid an excess of $500,000 to retain the services of a court-appointed attorney, whom she was unaware she could fire for more than ten years.
