Who are Legion? Malambo dance group from Argentina displays their skill of gaucho in 'AGT' Season 19
ARGENTINA, SOUTH AMERICA: In America, there are cowboys, while Argentina is home to gauchos. The renowned gauchos' strength, agility, and dexterity sparked the creation of the malambo, a traditional dance originating in the Argentine Pampas around 1600. This dance served as a platform to test the gauchos' skills through competitive duels.
One of the most beautiful dance traditions in the world will be on exhibit when Legion performs at 8 pm on Tuesday, June 11, during the third week of 'America's Got Talent' Season 19 auditions.
Traditional Malambo is solely focused on rhythm and lacks lyrics. It combines drums, rhythmic stomping, and precise footwork dynamically. The Malambo dancer, typically clad in gaucho boots, is a tap dancing maestro.
'AGT' Season 19 dance group Legion is heavily connected to Italy
Legion Malambo is a group of dancers from Argentina, the birthplace of the Malambo dance, from which they derive their name. In addition to his role as a dancer, Fabian Serna also serves as the company's choreographer and creative director.
The dancers selected to be part of the group were chosen because they expressed a desire to study and work with the responsibility and respect that this profession demands. Tú Sí Que Vales aims to raise Malambo's profile throughout Europe, particularly Italy. This connection to Italy is significant, as some members of the group have Italian ancestry.
