NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Actress Debi Mazar paid a poignant tribute to Robert De Niro's grandson Leandro 'Leo' De Niro-Rodriguez, who died over the weekend at the age of 19. In the Instagram tribute, the 'Goodfellas' actress, 58, posted several throwback pictures of herself, her daughters Giulia, 17, and Evelina, 20, along with toddler Leo and his mother, Drena, 51.

Leandro, an aspiring actor and director, was the son of Drena De Niro, 51, the adopted daughter of the 'Godfather' fame, and artist Carlos Rodriguez. Reportedly, Debi and Drena spent quite a time together while raising their children, as evidenced by Debi's Instagram post. While Drena's son "Leo," was recently in the news after his death, not much is known about Debi's children.

Leo was 'a beautiful, smart, young man'

Debi shared a few throwback images in Leo's memory where the late 19-year-old was prominently featured, along with pictures of Debi and his mother Drena De Niro when they were raising their young children. On July 5, she posted a photo to Instagram with the caption, "This one is so hard... May you rest in eternal peace."

"What a beautiful, smart, young man," continued Debi in the caption. "I’ve been at loss for words as I can’t imagine him taken, and the loss that (I can’t even comprehend) his parents, @drenadeniro @carlosmare & their families are going through right now. I’m so sorry. Leo was so loved. Our NYC gang, we all came up together & had babies around the same time. This loss has shaken our community."

In her homage, the 'Younger' actress also mentioned Drena and Carlos Rodriguez, Leandro's parents. "I love you Drena and Carlos," she wrote. "We are all here for you. Leandro Per Sempre."

Friends of the actress, such as the director Lee Daniels and the model Helena Christensen, expressed their sympathies in the comments section. Daniels said, "God bless Leo," and Christensen added, "So so sorry on his family and your behalf for the loss of this beautiful young man."
