LONDON, UK: Irish singer Sinead O'Connor was reportedly found "unresponsive" at a south-east London home after cops were called at the scene on Wednesday, July 26, as per latest reports. However, investigators were reportedly not treating her death as "suspicious" and no foul play was being suspected at the moment. No immediate cause of death was made available to the public.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinead. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time," O'Connor's family announced in an official statement. She was 56 at the time of her death. The tragic news comes nearly a year after her 17-year-old son, Shane, killed himself after escaping suicide watch from Dublin's Tallaght Hospital.

'A file will be prepared for the Coroner'

On July 26, police officers were called to a home in the SE24 area of London, covering genteel Herne Hill and standing between Brixton and Dulwich. As per the Daily Mail, actors Mark Rylance, Olivia Colman and James Nesbitt were among the notable residents of the SE24 area. "Police were called at 11.18am on Wednesday, July 26 to reports of an unresponsive woman at a residential address in the SE24 area," a Met Police spokesman said in a statement, as per the publication.

The spokesman continued, "Officers attended. A 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been notified. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the Coroner."

The woman was later identified as O'Connor, who had changed her name to Shuhada Sadaqat following her conversion to Islam in 2018. As per the outlet, an autopsy to confirm her cause of death was likely as she had died suddenly.

O'Connor's untimely demise reportedly came just a few weeks after she moved into a apartment in London. The 'Nothing Compares 2 U' hitmaker reportedly moved back to London at the start of July and called the city her "home." She was planning to "write new tunes" after moving to her "nice new flat" and even hinted at releasing a new album and going on a world tour.

"Hi All, recently moved back to London after 23 years absence. Very happy to be home :) Soon finishing my album. Release early next year : ) Hopefully Touring Australia and New Zealand toward end 2024. Europe, USA and other territories beginning early 2025 :) #TheB*tchIsBack," O'Connor wrote in a tweet on July 8. In a video posted by the singer on July 9, she mentioned that she felt "very happy to be home."

The clip, filmed at her new flat, showed the singer in the process of unboxing her belongings. O'Connor laughed and apologized for the mess at her home before calling the modern apartment a "s**thole" as all her belongings were strewn around. However, a few days before her death, she took to Twitter to write that she was living like an "undead night creature" since her son's tragic death in 2022.
