LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a world where there are countless streaming platforms to choose from, Netflix has emerged as a platform that often breaks its mould by creating out-of-the-box content or unconventional stories. From 'Stranger Things' to the recent 'Squid Game', the streaming platform has been able to produce an array of genres. And now, Netflix is set to release its erotic thriller, with the upcoming mini-series 'Obsession'.

While Netflix has produced some steamy erotic series like 'Sex/Life', the upcoming 'Obsession' is set to be in the erotic-thriller zone. 'Obsession' follows a formidable love story between two unconventional lovers. The unusual lovers in 'Obsession' are played by Richard Armitage and Charlie Murphy, who take on the roles of William Farrow and Anna Barton, respectively. So where was the erotic thriller filmed? Where was Netflix's 'Obsession' filmed?

'Obsession' is based on the 1991 novel 'Damage', which was written by Josephine Hart. The storyline of 'Damage' primarily takes place in Britain and several parts of Europe. The Netflix series 'Obsession' has been shot primarily in one of the most popular Twickenham Film Studios, which is located in St Margarets, London. It is to be noted that Twickenham Studios is one of the oldest and most renowned film studios that was founded in 1913 and has a total of three sound stages. It is in this famous studio that the London flat, which William Presents to Anna is constructed. This secret London flat would be the meeting place for the lovers to. The directors of the series wanted to create a perfect apartment for this scenario which would be otherworldly and when William entered that apartment, the directors wanted to have the feel of William entering a dark fairy tale. The apartment is constructed in a way that both William and Anna would feel like they are in another world, which is only for themselves. Twickenham Film Studios is where most of the intimate scenes from the series were shot.

On the other hand, 'Obsession' was also shot in some of the most romantic locations in the world, including several parts of London, Paris and the South of France. As 'Damage' depicts the affair between star-crossed couples in several places across Europe, it is fitting that 'Obsession' has also been shot in various alluring places. It should also be noted that the creative team of 'Obsession' were instructed to set a unique tone for the series with vivid backdrops which would enhance the story. 



 

What is Netflix's 'Obsession' about?

The official synopsis of Netflix's 'Obsession' reads, "A man's desperate obsession and scandalous love affair. He is a man who appears to have everything: wealth, a beautiful wife and children, and a prestigious political career in Parliament. But his life lacks passion, and his aching emptiness drives him to an all-consuming, and ultimately catastrophic, relationship with his son's fiancée." Although 'Obsession' is based on the novel 'Damage', show directors Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D'Sa have confirmed that the upcoming mini-series would have a modern take on the infamous tale, including, exploring the mindset of the lead Anna in depth. 



 

'Obsession' also stars Indira Varma as Ingrid, Rish Shah as Jay Farrow, Pippa Bennett-Warner as Peggy, Letty Thomas as Lynnette, Sonera Angel as Sally Farrow, Anil Goutam as Edward, Marion Bailey as Elizabeth, Kerim Hassan as Johnno, Victor Pontecorvo as Olivier and Celine Arden as Mimi. 

The erotic mini-series 'Obsession' is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on April 13, 2023.
