Update: Barbara Walters, has died at the age of 93 on Friday, December 30th evening, according to ABC News, her former employer. A cause of death was not provided immediately.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Jackie.

LOS ANGELOS, CALIFORNIA: Retired American broadcast journalist and television personality Barbara Walters turned 93 on Sunday, September 25. Actress and comedian Whoopi Goldberg wished the former broadcaster a belated happy birthday while hosting 'The View'. Viewers of the show were immediately reminded of Walters, who once interviewed several of the world's most fascinating people, and they were worried about her whereabouts as she has hardly been seen ever since her retirement.

Fans of the show started expressing their fears regarding Walters, who was the co-founder of 'The View'. Barbara had retired in 2014 and viewers questioned what she has been doing ever since.

On the episode of the ABC show, co-host Goldberg wished the show’s creator a happy birthday. On Tuesday, September 26, a photograph of Walters was put up throughout the episode. The 'Ghost' actress said, "To the one and solely Barbara Walters, who had a birthday yesterday, we wanna say, 27 by no means regarded so good."

'The View' is presently airing its twenty sixth season. And they honored Walters in a tweet too, "Happy birthday to the one and only Barbara Walters!" 

Viewers immedietly started questioning what Walters has been up to as she is hardly seen in public ever since her retirement in 2014. Walters’ rep told The New York Post in a statement that “she had a relaxing birthday at home”, without elaborating further.



 

There was numerous tweets from fans wishing “Happy Birthday, Barbara”, while others were curious about the former host of 'ABC Evening News'.

A user tweeted, "No shade but Is Barbara still alive I feel I never hear about her". Another user tweeted in reply to the above tweet, "I'm wondering the same thing. Haven't seen her since 2017 I believe."

One user commented on the show without Barbara, tweeting, "They should have disbanded this show when Barbara left. It is no longer a legacy for her it has become a wing of the Democratic Party. They get their morning talking points from DNC. Barabara was left wing, but she would have been embarrassed at what this show has become."



 



 



 

The last time Barbara was seen in public was in 2016 when she attended the opening of 'The Father' on Broadway. A source claimed to RadarOnline that Walters has reportedly been suffering from advanced dementia, “spending her final days in a tragic prison of pain.” “Barbara suffers from exhaustion and fatigue, as well as anxiety and agitation,she’s very frail and spends a great deal of the day napping,” said the anonymous source.

In 2020, Jenny McCarthy told Us Weekly that Walters wasn’t doing well, but her rep shot down McCarthy’s claims.
