LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amy Duggar King, a cousin of the renowned Duggar family, has captivated the public's attention with her unique perspective on the family's dynamics and personal experiences. As the highly anticipated release of 'Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets' on Amazon Prime approaches on June 2, the family's hidden facades are being revealed.
Led by Jim and Michelle, the Duggar family rose to fame with their 19 children and their emphasis on the importance of strong family ties. However, the family's carefully crafted image was soon shattered when allegations against their eldest son, Josh Duggar, and his subsequent arrest for child pornography came to light. While Amy rarely appeared on the reality TV show, her latest appearance on 'Shiny Happy People' alongside her mother, Deanna Duggar (Jim Bob's sister), shed even more light on the family's dark secrets.
Where is Amy Duggar King?
Amy, the daughter of Jim Bob's sister Deanna, has always stood out within the Duggar family circle. Unlike her more conservative relatives, Amy embraced her individuality and distanced herself from the strict rules and traditions that governed their lives. However, in a shocking revelation, Amy has disclosed a distressing incident involving Jill Duggar and her brother Josh, unveiling Jill's courageous act of self-defense when Josh tried to prey on her during their childhood.
Josh Duggar's scandalous misconduct rocks the Duggar family
The Duggar family faced immense controversy when Josh, the eldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle, was exposed for his involvement in a series of sexual misconduct incidents. The revelation of Josh's molestation of five young girls including his four sisters and the family's babysitter led to the subsequent cancellation of the family's show.
TLC later revived the series under the title 'Counting On,' focusing on the lives of the older Duggar sisters. Although, the show's ultimate cancellation in 2021 became inevitable following Josh's arrest for child pornography.
In an unexpected twist, Amy has now shared a stunning revelation about her cousin Jill. According to Amy, Jill defended herself against Josh when he attacked her at a young age. Amy commended Jill for her strength and tenacity, stating, "She is not one to just keep quiet and silent. And so she's the one that really did something about Josh and hit him the night he tried to do something to her," reported Cheatsheet.
'This is all gonna blow over!'
Amidst these revelations, Deanna, Amy's mother, also spoke out about the family's handling of Josh's actions. Deanna reveals that Jim Bob downplayed the seriousness of the federal raid conducted on Josh's used car lot in November 2019, where authorities discovered a computer containing explicit material related to child sexual abuse.
“I talked to my brother and he said, ‘It’s just this ex-con that worked at his car lot and it’s all gonna be fine,” she recalls. “‘This is all gonna blow over. It’s not true. None of it’s true."
