Where does Joe Rogan live? Here's all we know about 'JRE' podcaster's whereabouts after he left LA

AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Rogan, the renowned podcaster and host of 'The Joe Rogan Experience' (JRE), made headlines after he decided to leave Los Angeles, his home for almost two decades. The catalyst for this move was the challenging circumstances brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. Rogan candidly shared his experiences and reasons behind relocating to Texas in several episodes of his podcast, revealing that the situation in the state provided a breath of fresh air compared to the restrictive environment in LA.
During an episode, Rogan recounted a trip to Texas in May 2020, a time when LA was still under a strict lockdown. He described how the difference in atmosphere was stark, with people freely enjoying the outdoors, from boating on the lake to his children gleefully jumping into the water. Their excitement was infectious, and they pleaded with Rogan to make Texas their new home.
'I will f***king move here right now'
Entranced by their enthusiasm and the liberating atmosphere, Rogan agreed wholeheartedly to embark on this new adventure with his family, saying, “Well, I came out here in May of 2020 when LA was locked down and two weeks had become, you know, a couple of months and there was no hint of anything opening up. It was weird and we came here and it was totally different. We came here and everybody was going out. You go to the lake there’s people on boats and my kids jumped in the water and they were playing. They’re like ‘We want to live here’ and I was like I will f***king move here right now. And my wife agreed and we said let’s go let’s try it.”
One of the key issues that prompted his departure from California was the state's overpopulation during the Covid pandemic. Rogan explained during a July 2020 episode of the podcast that the high population density exacerbated the spread of the virus. He expressed his concern for the number of people contracting the virus and pointed out that the more relaxed measures enforced in Texas were something he relished. These factors, along with the desire for greater personal freedom, eventually led to his complete relocation to Austin in November 2020. He said, “Most of the time [overpopulation is] not a problem, but I think it’s a real issue when you look at the number of people that are catching COVID.”
'It’s extremely expensive'

Let's tax the rich more. It seems to be working.
Speculation arose regarding the motive behind Rogan's decision to move to Texas, with some suggesting that it was primarily driven by the desire to avoid exorbitant taxes imposed in California. Coincidentally, it was around the same time that Rogan secured a monumental deal with Spotify, amounting to a staggering $100M (later disclosed to potentially be upwards of $200M) exclusively for broadcasting 'JRE' on the platform. In California, Rogan would have been subject to approximately $13M in taxes on that sum, making the move to Texas a financially advantageous choice given its absence of individual income taxes.
Rogan discussed this issue in May 2020. As he put it, “I might move to Texas… if California continues to be this restrictive I don’t know if this is a good place to live. First of all, it’s extremely expensive. The taxes are ridiculous. And if they really say that we can’t do stand-up until 2022, or some s**t like that, I might jet. I’m not kidding. This is silly. I don’t need to be here.”
Addressing these rumors during episode #1846 of 'JRE', Rogan dismissed the notion that his move was solely motivated by financial gain. He openly stated, "I'm not a person who wants to keep all my money and not pay taxes." This declaration aimed to dispel the misconceptions surrounding his decision, emphasizing that his choice to relocate was guided by a multitude of factors.
Upon settling in Texas, Rogan wasted no time in crafting a magnificent haven for his podcasting endeavors. He purchased an opulent mansion worth an impressive $14.4M, where he fashioned a state-of-the-art studio.
