UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Prepare for another fantastic episode of 'The Voice' as Season 24 showcases great singing talent and intriguing performances. Episode 9 is scheduled to premiere on October 23, 2023, and promises to be a watershed event in the search for the next singing superstar.

Each coach pairs two members of their team to perform together in the Battle Rounds, then chooses one to advance in the competition. Each season, a new celebrity advisor assists each coach.

Previously, coaches sat on the fighting stage with their respective counselors throughout season one; however, beginning with season two, the advisors no longer joined the coaches on stage.

Artists are either given a walkover or placed in a three-way duel if another artist withdraws from the competition, as each coach deems appropriate.

What to expect from 'The Voice' Season 24 Episode 9?

What happened in 'The Voice' Season 24 Episode 8?

The battle rounds kicked off Episode 8 of 'The Voice' Season 24 in a huge manner.

Contestants from three teams competed against some of their own to see who their coaches wanted to keep, and one display was so good that thefts began to flow before the night was out.

Team John Legend: Deejay Young vs Ephraim Owens

Deejay Young and Ephraim Owens of Team Legend fought in the first bout of the season. John stated that he matched them because they are both "soulful" tenors, and he can only move on with one of them because they are so similar.

Despite the fact that Ephraim was one of John's eight four-chair turns, he crowned Deejay the winner of the duel due to his vocal versatility.

Team Reba McEntire: Jordan Rainer vs Jackson Snelling

Reba picked Jordan Rainer and Jackson Snelling to sing her song 'A Heart Won't Lie' together for her first duel because she sees them as "opposites" who can "add depth" to a song.

In the end, Reba followed Niall and Gwen's advice and chose Jordan, since she was so distinct from everyone else in the competition across both teams.

Team Niall Horan: Lennon Vanderdoes vs Tanner Massey

Tanner Massey and Lennon Vanderdoes were with Team Niall when they first entered the practice room to work through 'She's Always a Woman.'

Niall selected them because they had two male singer-songwriter voices, and he thought a Billy Joel song would be appropriate for their tale.

Niall admitted that he disliked bringing them together, but in choosing the musician who makes him "super excited," Niall selected Lennon as the winner.

Both John and Gwen used their buttons to pitch that Tanner would jump over to their teams in the opening steal attempt of the season.

Tanner admitted that it was a difficult decision, but he succumbed to Gwen's "second beg" and joined the newest member of her squad.
