'RHOSLC' star Jen Shah's 6.5-year-long sentence reduced by 1 year as she continues making most of her prison time

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star Jen Shah's prison sentence has been reduced by a whole year and she will be coming back home earlier than expected. Jen Shah will be released on August 20, 2028, as per Deadline.

Shah's representative confirmed the news and added that the Bravo star is committed to her victim's restitution and has started making payments for the same.

Why was 'Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star Jen Shah sent to prison?

Jen Shah was previously arrested and convicted for her involvement in $5 million wire fraud for which she received 6.5 years in prison. She was found guilty of partaking in a nationwide fraudulent telemarketing scheme that specifically targeted the elderly, robbing them of their life savings.

Her trouble with the law was caught on camera and law enforcement authorities showed up to apprehend her during filming of the reality show. Shah initially denied the allegations but later pleaded guilty before the court in July 2022. 

Shah surrendered to the law and was convicted. She was originally sentenced to serve a six-and-a-half-year sentence at Bryan Federal Prison camp.

What is 'Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star Jen Shah's life in prison like?

Jen Shah seems to be making the most of her time in prison by focusing on wellness and the creative arts, as per Collider. Shah is also teaching Pilates, and HIIT Training classes to fellow inmates in prison. 

Apart from this, Shah has had to let go of her celebrity status. According to Vulture, Shah who previously stated that she was fond of Botox and cosmetic fillers has had to let go of the cosmetic procedures in prison.

However, in April, the reality star's manager revealed that she was developing a 'Real Housewives of Bryan' theatrical production in the prison, with Shah helping her fellow inmates learn to read and write better.

While Shah might be missing out on her previous luxurious starstruck life, it looks like she's making the most out of her time in prison.

Who is 'Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star Jen Shah?

Jen Shah is a 49-year-old American reality TV personality who appeared on 'RHOSLC' for the first three seasons. She hails from a Tongan and Hawaiian lineage. Though she was born as a Mormon, she later converted to Islam.

Her husband Sharieff Shah works as a football coach. The two met while attending the University of Utah together. The couple has two sons. Her legal case was chronicled in the Hulu documentary 'Housewife and the Shah Shocker'.
