Chandler Bing's mother was featured in five episodes from 1995 to 2001. At the time of their first episode together, Morgan Fairchild was 45 and Matthew Perry, who portrayed Chandler Bing, was 26 years old. 

In the TV show 'Friends', Fairchild took on the role of a graphic adult novelist who ended her marriage upon discovering her husband’s sexuality. Her character Nora Bing was a successful author whose accomplishments inspired the character Rachel Green to try her hand at writing.

Nora Tyler Bing, the mother of Chandler, is a successful erotic novelist known for her works such as 'Euphoria Unbound', 'Euphoria At Midnight', and 'Mistress B***h' on the show.

She made her first appearance in the episode 'The One with Mrs. Bing', where she encounters the group during a book tour in New York and shares a kiss with Ross after dinner.

Nora also makes a brief appearance in the flashback scenes of 'The One with All the Thanksgivings' and reappears in 'The One with Monica and Chandler’s Wedding' (alongside Kathleen Turner who plays Chandler's biological father) and 'The One After 'I Do'.

In 2004, The Seattle Times jointly ranked Nora and her ex-husband as the fifth-best guest characters. 

The 73-year-old was renowned for her role in the television series 'Falcon Crest', when she appeared alongside 26-year-old Perry. This implies that her character would have been approximately 19 years old when she gave birth to him, per Daily Mail.

However, despite the advice of her friends, the Texas actress expressed her belief that it was her turn to portray maternal roles. She said, "At some point, you've got to make that transition to playing the mother," In an interview with Closer Weekly.

The world just mourned the death of the 'Friends' star, who died on Saturday, October 28, at the age of 54. Fairchild, his on-screen mother on the hugely popular sitcom, expressed her sadness at his untimely death.

The 73-year-old actress wrote on X, "I’m heartbroken about the untimely death of my “son”, Matthew Perry. The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock. I’m sending love & condolences to his friends & family, especially his dad, John Bennett Perry, who I worked with on Flamingo Road & Falcon Crest. #RIPMatthew."
