What is the Billionaire Bunker?

The Indian Creek property, also known as the Billionare Bunker, spans 2.8 acres (1.1 hectares) and features three bedrooms. Constructed in 1965, it was formerly owned by MTM Star International, a company with links to Panama.

Public records confirm that the sale occurred in June, although the ultimate purchaser's identity was not revealed. Prior to this recent transaction, the property's most recent recorded sale was back in 1982, when it was sold for $1.4M, per Fortune.

The recent addition of Indian Creek to Bezos' real estate collection encompasses an area of nearly 9,300 sqft (about 864 sqm), as indicated by property records. This spacious property boasts a pool as part of its features.

With a substantial fortune estimated at $163B, as per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos is poised to become the wealthiest resident of Indian Creek, a distinction he will acquire once he owns the propert.

This exclusive island enclave comprises roughly 40 residences, a prestigious country club, and even its own dedicated police department, reflecting the high status of its inhabitants.

The term "billionaire bunker" typically refers to luxury underground or fortified compounds that are designed to provide extreme security and protection for wealthy individuals and their families in case of various emergencies, including natural disasters, civil unrest or other catastrophic events.

These bunkers often feature state-of-the-art technology, self-sustaining systems for food and water and various amenities to ensure the comfort of their inhabitants during extended stays.

Who lives in the Billionaire Bunker?

Before Bezos, famous people such as Carl Icahn, Tom Brady, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump have lived in the Billionaire Bunker.

In recent times, Bezos has acquired numerous homes, including one in Washington, DC, a spacious Beverly Hills mansion spanning nine acres, which he acquired for $165M in 2020 and a property in Maui.

Additionally, he possesses residences in Manhattan and Seattle. Notably, he also owns a vast 300,000-acre ranch in Texas, which serves as the launch site for Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket.
