LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears is all set to open up about her life through the release of her much-awaited memoir acquired by the publishing house Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. The memoir will be released on October 24, 2023.
According to Gallery Books Senior Vice President and Publisher Jennifer Bergstrom, "Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery," and added, "I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last," reported People.
What is Britney Spear's memoir titled?
The 'Toxic' singer has named her memoir 'The Woman in Me' which is "a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope," as per the press release.
The book promises to reveal for the first time the singer's "incredible journey (and) strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history," and "illuminates the enduring power of music and love — and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms," read the press release.
Spears' began writing her memoir after the end of her conservatorship
The bombshell memoir comes after the termination of her 13-year court-ordered conservatorship in November 2021 which placed several restrictions on her life including her finances. "I just want my life back," the singer told the court at the time.
The songwriter landed the $15 million book deal with Simon & Schuster in February 2022 when an insider said "The deal is one of the biggest of all time, behind the Obamas." A source shared in April that the 'Everytime' singer had completed writing the memoir that would "shake the world."
"Britney’s book is a story of triumph. It will cover her most vulnerable moments, her childhood – being a little girl with big dreams – her breakup with Justin Timberlake, the moment she shaved her head, and her battle with her family over her conservatorship," an insider told Page Six and further added, "It is also a story of survival, finding her way out of the crippling conservatorship to finding happiness with her husband Sam Asghari."
According to the outlet, the Grammy winner had been working with ghostwriter Sam Lansky who is a novelist and journalist. Another source explained that the memoir would be "a groundbreaking instant bestseller," and added, "This is an inspiring read, not only because it shows the strength of Britney’s spirit, but because her story is told with such style, wit, intelligence, honesty, and without any self-pity."
