MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Nine Republican presidential candidates have qualified for the first GOP primary debate on Wednesday evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum will be asking the questions as co-moderators while also hosting the debate. 

Which leaders are expected to take part in the debate? 

However, with former President Donald Trump distracted by four criminal indictments and boycotting the Fox News-hosted debate, only eight candidates are expected to take the stage at the Fiserv Forum.

These are Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, Chris Christie, Asa Hutchinson and Doug Burgum.

The hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, however, will miss a key figure in the debate, which is Former President Donald Trump.

He had made it official on Sunday that he would not be attending the debate.

Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social: "The public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had,"

Trump further added on the social media post, "I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!" 



 

Fox News will air the debate on Wednesday evening from 9-11 pm ET, as reported by US Today.

Most recently Baier co-anchored FNC's 2022 Midterm election coverage. In 2022, Baier provided live breaking news coverage surrounding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

He also interviewed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. He also spoke with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

Earlier in 2006 he worked as a White House Correspondent covering the second term of George W. Bush's administration. He was FNC's Southeastern correspondent from 1998 to 2001.
