Rapper Lil Wayne announced that he will not be performing at the exhibition fight between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr fight. The 38-year-old rapper took to Twitter and called off his scheduled performance just hours ahead of the Saturday night event (November 28). He tweeted saying, "Due to unforeseeable circumstances I won’t be performing tonight at the Tyson/Jones fight. Hope the event is still a success and much love for Triller. Love." Wayne has given no official reason for the cancellation of his performance.

Lil Wayne had previously hyped up the night when his appearance was announced earlier this month. In a statement at the time, he had said: "This event is going to go down in history, no doubt. I’m grateful to be a part of it and share the arena with two living legends. I’m stoked to perform and give the fans something they can rock to."

On the music front, Lil Wayne recently dropped his 'No Ceilings 3' mixtape which follows 2015's 'No Ceilings 2' mixtape. 'No Ceilings 3' mixtape features guest appearances from Drake, Young Thug, Gudda Gudda, Euro, Hoodybaby, Cory Gunz, Vice Versa, YD, Jay Jones and his three sons Lil Tune, Young Carter and Young Kam Karter. Before dropping 'No Ceilings 3', on August 28, 2020, Wayne re-released the 2009 mixtape 'No Ceilings' on streaming services. He also announced the third sequel to the mixtape during an interview on ESPN.

Tyson first mentioned the idea of the exhibition fight in an April 2020 YouTube interview with rapper TI, saying, "I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three or four-round exhibitions for some charities and stuff." He further teased a potential return to the ring in early May 2020, posting two short Instagram videos of himself training and declaring at the end of the video, "I'm back." He later explained in a Facebook live-stream, "Anything's possible. I feel unstoppable now. The gods of war have reawakened me, ignited my ego, and want me to go to war again. I feel like I'm young again."

The eight-round exhibition fight between Tyson and Jones will be part of Saturday night’s four-hour live event. French Montana, Wiz Khalifa and YG are among the artists listed on the musical lineup. On Saturday night, Snoop Dogg tweeted that he’d joined the bill. Viewing options for the fight at Los Angeles' Staples Center, which starts at 9 pm ET, can be found at TysonOnTriller.com.
