Mary Cosby: 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star inherited grandmother's enormous wealth through 'weird' marriage
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star Mary Cosby comes from old money and is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and spiritual leader. She is one of the richest cast members of the Bravo show.
Being the heir of a multi-million dollar inheritance and a spiritual leader of the Faith Pentecostal Church has allowed Cosby to claim for herself a position that is unlike that of any other participant in the 'Real Housewives' franchise.
Why did 'Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star Mary Cosby marry step-grandfather Robert Cosby Sr?
It has been reported that Cosby drew much of her wealth from her grandmother's inheritance. As the heir to this massive fortune, Cosby was presented with a rather unconventional and odd predicament.
Her grandmother's will dictated that in order to inherit her wealth and the leadership of the church, Cosby must be tied in wedlock to her step-grandfather Robert Cosby Sr. Robert was Cosby's grandmother's second husband and is not biologically related to her.
Commenting on the nature of the unconventional union, Cosby stated, "Don’t think it wasn’t weird, ‘cause it was."
Is 'Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star Mary Cosby a member of a cult?
Among many other controversies stemming from 'RHOSLC', Cosby's alleged involvement in a cult happened to draw the most attention.
It has been alleged that Cosby's Faith Pentecostal Church is more of a cult than a church. Cosby has been accused of playing god among the congregants and many are ready to do her bidding at any cost whatsoever, according to some claims.
According to Women's Health, cast-mate Lisa Barlow was the first to point out that Cosby might be the leader of a cult. Upon further questioning, Barlow revealed that one of her friends left the church after suffering from 'extreme religious trauma'.
Cosby, however, has denied all such allegations.
Why did 'Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star Mary Cosby skip the show's reunion episode?
Cosby raised quite a few eyebrows with her absence from the 'RHOSLC' season 2 reunion. According to People, Cosby later clarified that she "didn't go because it was one-sided."
She further stated that everyone at the reunion said nothing except lies and just one side of the story, adding, "I was not going to get on the reunion for a four-part reunion and talk about this guy who has passed."
Cosby was referring to Barlow's friend Cameron Williams, who allegedly mortgaged his house to give Cosby $300,000.
