LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Russell Brand, who was previously married to the singer Katy Perry, took to his YouTube channel on Friday, September 15, to "absolutely deny serious allegations" that he found after receiving letters from mainstream media.

The claims come to light just ahead of a highly anticipated Channel 4 'Dispatches' investigation, scheduled to air at 9 pm on Saturday, with sources hinting at shocking revelations involving a well-known celebrity.

What did Russell Brand say about the 'accusations' against him?

Russell Brand began his video message by acknowledging the existence of "very, very serious criminal allegations" made against him, which he "absolutely refutes."

According to the comedian, he received two "extremely disturbing letters" from a "mainstream media TV company" and a newspaper, listing what he described as "a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks which are untrue," he said on his YouTube channel.

"These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time when I was in the movies. And as I've written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous," asserted Brand.

The comedian emphasized that the relationships he had during the said time were "always consensual" and that he had been transparent about his actions.

He further said, "And to see that transparency metastasized into something criminal that I absolutely deny makes me question, is there another agenda at play?"

The 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' actor closed his video with a plea to his audience, "In the meantime, I want you to stay close, stay awake, but more importantly than any of that - if you can, please - stay free," a phrase he frequently uses to conclude his videos on his channel.

Notably, Brand and Perry got married in October 2010, only for him to file for divorce about 14 months later. He supposedly told the 'Dark Horse' singer about their divorce through a text message, as per Hello Magazine

What is the Channel 4 'Dispatches' investigation about?

Russell Brand's statement comes amid rumors about possible allegations being brought against a famous person in the hotly-anticipated program 'New: Dispatches Special. A 90-minute special Dispatches investigation,' but not much information has been released about the upcoming episode.

The Radio Times magazine included the program in its listings for the current week, providing a description that read, "Dispatches - Investigation series covering issues in British society, politics, international current affairs, health, religion and the environment."

In the past, the program has aired titles like 'Sri Lanka's Easter Bombings', 'Locked Away: Our Autism Scandal', and 'Boris, the Lord & the Russian Spy'.
