The K-pop group Weki Meki is making a comeback a whole year after the release of their last mini-album, ‘New Rules’ that was released in October of 2020. The eight-member group is now ready to give a dreamy comeback with the release of their fifth mini-album titled, ‘I Am Me’ which promises an up-close and personal revelatory album that show the members accepting their identity and presenting themselves, unfiltered, to fans.
Through the concept photos and mood films presented over a total of three days, Weki Meki members have emerged as 'sympathy icons' for their fans. The album has six tracks with ‘Siesta’ as its title track and ‘One Day’ as its B-side track. The B-side track for the album was written and composed by Suyeon, the leader of the group, alongside other producers and writers. She also participated in writing the lyrics for the song, ‘Sweet Winter’. The title track on the album, ‘Siesta’ was made by composers Anna Timgren and Harold Philippon, who previously worked on hit songs such as Oh My Girls’ ‘Dun Dun Dance’ and ‘The Feels’ by the K-pop group, TWICE raising the stakes for the girl-group's upcoming comeback.
Concept
For their upcoming album, Weki Meki released two concept versions for ‘I Am Me’. The first concept was titled, ‘Emotion’ where all the eight members of the group had concept photos taken from a room with cameras zoomed into their straight faces giving fans a highly-anticipated sneak peek.
