'We need them': Megyn Kelly expresses desire to 'keep a gun' for self-defence after Maine mass shooting
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Megyn Kelly recently made a startling admission during her SiriusX podcast show on Thursday, October 26. In light of the recent mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, the former Fox News star has now expressed her desire to “keep a gun” for her safety in case she comes across any such shooter.
The 52-year-old told her viewers that instances like these force her to re-think her choices on keeping a gun with her.
The suspected gunman, identified as Robert Card, left 18 people dead and 13 wounded after opening fire at a bar and a bowling alley in the Maine town of Lewiston. Hundreds of police are currently on a massive manhunt as they searched the city of Lewiston and surrounding areas of Maine state, Reuters reported.
Kelly addressed the topic of the Maine mass shooting, stating that she’s “sick of these mass murders.”
Megyn Kelly wishes to keep herself ‘armed’ in light of Maine mass shooting
Addressing the issue of mass shootings head-on, Kelly reported that she was tired of having debates anytime there was a mass shooting in the country.
“I’m sick of these mass murders where we just have these dumb a** debates every time and literally nothing changes.”
The veteran journalist formulated a response to this mass shooting, revealing her desire to keep a gun on her person, should she ever come across such a shooter or be stuck in a situation like the one in Maine.
“I’ve said this before, I’m not a big gun person but in these moments I want to call my friends Dana and Chris Lash who live in Texas and who are huge Second Amendment people and I want to spend the next year in training with them. I want to have the same arsenal they have.”
Kelly continued, “I want to be as comfortable with guns. I mean they got guns everywhere.”
She mentioned that anyone who would even dare to enter her friend’s house with a gun would be apprehended without a shred of doubt.
“I’m just saying in these instances [mass shooting], those of us who don’t walk around with guns all the time are feeling like we need them.”
Megyn Kelly reacts to Facebook post of restaurant attacked in Maine mass shooting
Kelly read the quote shared by the restaurant that was attacked by the gunman in Maine.
“How can we make any sense of this?”, Kelly read the statement from the restaurant and responded, “We can’t! We can’t!!”
“There’s no sense to be made on how many of these we have to suffer. Do we have to leave the United States?” asked Kelly.
Kelly felt it was “pointless to spend time on the gun debate, they’re not going away.” Instead, she said what needed to be addresed was “the mental health problem.”
“I really firmly believe what we need is a mental health facility to which a loving parent would send her son,” she said. “We need a facility that is jail-like, it’s a secure facility, but it is one to which a loving family member would feel comfortable committing his or her son or daughter, uncle, cousin, and one in which civil liberties are going to have to be bent a bit.”
