LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Adam Sandler's 'Grown ups' was a critical bomb, with a dismal 11% Rotten Tomatoes rating, but it was beloved by the audiences. The movie's box office collection was upwards of 270 million dollars. It appears Sandler proved every bit a generous star as he made sure his castmates also profited handsomely from the movie's enormous success.

Sandler apparently treated his co-stars Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, and Kevin James to a very expensive gift - they all got a Maserati each. The ‘Uncut Gems’ actor had not given his co-stars a heads up about the gift, LadBible reports. The swanky automobile, worth over 130K dollars at the time, left them all completely befuddled.

David Spade was ‘embarrassed'

David Spade later opened up about the whole surprise, saying he was totally shocked to receive the gift of a lifetime. "He gave us all a Maserati. Chris Rock called me and he goes, 'Will you look in your driveway?', and I go, 'No,' and he goes, 'Go out front and call me,’” Spade recalled. “So I go out front and they're putting a car in my driveway, and I go, 'What's happening?', and they go, 'Adam Sandler.' I go, 'Oh, is this his car, I'm supposed to watch it?'"

Spade then detailed the exact moment he realized that the car was his to keep, saying, "I call Rock and I go, 'I'm keeping Adam's car here for some reason,' and he goes, 'No that's for you, we all got one.’” Spade later appeared on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' and admitted to feeling embarrassed at driving the car around.

Comedian Chris Rock - who is now infamous for being slapped by Will Smith - had also revealed how he felt uneasy with his co-star's gift. On the ‘Howard Stern Show', Rock joked he thought that the car came with strings attached to it and said, "I went outside the other day and I had a new Maserati in the driveway. Now I think that I'm Adam Sandler's b****."
