Was Kelly Preston's husband John Travolta gay? The truth behind his infamous identity

‘Pulp Fiction’ actor John Travolta’s wife Kelly Preston passed away after losing her battle to cancer today, July 13, at the age of 57. The actor shared the disheartening news through an Instagram post on Sunday (July 12) evening. He wrote, “It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.”

Preston and Travolta were married for 29 years and have two children together, Ella and Benjamin. The couple led quite a peaceful life and they were both followers of Scientology. However, despite their happy marriage, Travolta was in and out of news one too many times for all the wrong reasons, but his marriage to Preston survived through it. 

In 2012, a masseur who chose to keep his identity hidden, filed a lawsuit against Travolta, accusing him of sexual assault and battery. The actor’s attorney however brushed it off as rumors as even said that the allegations were “complete fiction and fabrication”. 

But speculations had already begun to swirl in the media suggesting that Travolta was in fact gay with a “lot of experience” with other men. The rumors were further fueled following the former pilot, Douglas Gotterba’s accusations against the actor. Gotterba claimed that the two shared a sexual relationship for almost six years when Gotterba worked for Travolta's aircraft company, Alto. 

Even the entertainment world seems to be quite aware of Travolta's reputation, which has been haunting him since the 1980s. Nearly a decade ago, when the ‘Star Wars’ actor Carrie Fisher, who was also good friends with Travolta, was asked to comment on his relationship with men, she reportedly stated, “Wow! I mean, my feeling about John has always been that we know and we don’t care. Look, I’m sorry that he’s uncomfortable with it, and that’s all I can say. It only draws more attention to it when you make that kind of legal fuss. Just leave it be.”

However, the rumors regarding Travolta allegedly being gay gained momentum when gay porn star Paul Barresi revealed in a tell-all interview that he had an alleged gay relationship with the actor in the 1980s. Over the years, the rumors have only grown stronger with similar allegations made against Travolta.
