'Warrior' Season 2 came to an end with a twist on all fronts. The show's renewal at the moment has not been confirmed and fans of the show have already signed a petition to ensure that the show is not canceled right after season 2. In fact, actor Andrew Koji who plays the role of Ah Sahm in the show also shared the petition on his social media handle expressing how 'Warrior' was a story that needed a platform. The show is brilliant in terms of writing and the expertise in bringing it to life on screen is a class apart, and that's why we figured that the show needs an opportunity. Not just that, the second season of the show has not exactly wrapped things up for its lead characters and has instead introduced cliffhangers that will ensure fans' interest in the upcoming season. It is these cliffhangers that we plan on pointing out here.

The fate of Young Jun and Ah Sahm's friendship

A still of Young-jun and Ah Sahm in 'Warrior' season 2 (Cinemax)

For instance, the biggest cliffhanger that needs to be resolved is if Young Jun will really be able to accept Ah Sahm (Koji) without a doubt. From the beginning of the second season, Young Jun (Jason Tobin) had been warned by his father to not believe in Ah Sahm as Father Jun had been able to see hidden motivations. Of course, Ah Sahm had been as honest as he possibly could and had hence revealed that he wants to exact revenge and bring Mai Ling (Dianne Doan) and her tong Long Zii down with her. However, he hadn't revealed that Mai Ling was his sister, and Mai Ling, used this while both Young Jun and Ah Sahm had tried to corner her after clearing Fung Hai out. She revealed the truth to Young Jun and Hong (Chen Tang), and as she had expected a fight did break out. However, Young Jun saw sense before things got out of hand and he accepted that Ah Sahm's sincerity and loyalty when it came to Hop Wei couldn't be questioned. However, Young Jun worries about the future. What if Ah Sahm had to choose between himself and Mai Ling? Would Ah Sahm be able to kill Mai Ling? In addition to these questions, one of the closing shots that we see is of Young Jun spitting on the streets right after he sees the wall mural of Ah Sahm with his nunchucks. A scene from the recent war in Chinatown that Ah Sahm had fought. Will his adulation that Ah Sahm enjoys within Chinatown serve in his favor or against?

The animosity between Leary and Walter Buckley

Dylan Leary (Cinemax)

Walter Buckley has always served his purpose first and foremost and this has always been clear to us. With former Mayor Blake's death, Buckley has found himself the owner of a seat that adds more credibility to him and with this position, Buckley has big plans. The first one was to use Jacob, Penny's Chinese manservant to increase the hatred for Chinesemen in the city. He succeeded and even brought upon war at Chinatown. Then he decided that he will use the business owners by promising them rebates and asking them to initially shell out the money to hire labor from the Irish working class. The promise of a rebate does sweeten the deal for the business owners who seriously consider showing support for Buckley at the Council. Of course, Penny did attempt to reveal the truth about him, but he plots against her and commits her to a mental asylum for being ill. The only person who does end up having something on him, ironically, is Mai Ling. The same young woman who Buckley had used to serve his purpose in the past has found dirt on him that could destroy him and his career. So to help her, Buckley attempts to uproot Hop Wei from Chinatown, but before he puts his plan in motion, Leary comes forward and interrupts. He tells the business owners what they would really be signing up for if they were to believe Buckley and that is how Leary ends up opposing the sitting mayor and he also takes the seat that he deserves (as much as business owners in Chinatown do). Now we are left with how Leary will deal with the mayor's manipulative ways and if his fight against the Chinese labor will continue.

Zing's escape from prison

One of the most intriguing closing shots was of Zing, the leader of the Fung Hai tong in prison. He is left in jail, alone in a cell where he sees a window and the bars here give Zing an idea. We can hear his thoughts as he tests out the strength of the bar. If he could break the bar down, there will be enough space for him to escape definitely and this is definitely a plausible plotline for season 3. Will he go gunning for Bill, Chao and Lii Yong for setting a trap for him? After all, it was Chao who had planned the whole deal because he couldn't see himself being left alone to work with all tongs as he did in the present if Zing continued to work with Mai Ling. Mai Ling's associate Lii Yong had also seen how much of a problem Zing had been with his ways and so he had collaborated with Mai Ling. All of this may very well come to bite them soon. The only other possibility however is for Mai Ling to join hands with Zing again and betray Lii Yong. He had once taken an important decision without her in the know, so she might do the same to him. If this were to happen, Chao, who has until now managed to strike the balance of working with all the tongs in Chinatown, will be in danger. How will he face this and we definitely have to see how this dynamic plays out.

'Warrior' Season 2 episodes were aired on Cinemax every Friday at 10 pm ET. There has been no official news regarding season 3 of the show.
