'WandaVision' Spoilers: All the MCU Easter Eggs from Episodes 1 and 2 of Marvel's miniseries on Disney+
'WandaVision' had a helluva premiere as Marvel's miniseries on Disney+ show featuring Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) lived up to the promise of being a show very unlike Marvel. The two-episode debut saw Wanda and Vision living in a dystopian black-and-white reality where they are trying to live life as normally as possible by blending in. Both episodes hardly give anything away although fans have heavily speculated the episodes are based on the comic, 'House of M'.
However, what did hand out was generous Easter Eggs that fans will love identifying. Some complex, but some pretty direct and simple. Here are some of the Easter eggs we picked from Episodes 1 and 2:
The date 23 on the calendar
Episode 1 sees a heart above the date 23 on the calendar, an occasion which both Wanda and Vision don't remember. This is in reference to the 23 movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe encompassing all the three phases it has divided its movies into.
A toaster by Stark Industries
It is impossible to forget Tony Stark who was pretty much the life of the MCU.'WandaVision' pays rich tribute to Stark Industries in the form of a commercial where the company makes Toasters. Imagine, a firm that made weapons for a living actually started out with home equipment.
Strucker Watches by Hydra
The bad guys weren't forgotten either. The MCU provided a reference in the form of another commercial where the bad guys actually made watches. Baron Von Strucker was introduced in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' where he first experimented on Wanda and her brother, Pietro Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson)
The Mailbox
The mailbox was a recall from the comic by Tom King and Gabriel Walta.
The SWORD logo on the toy helicopter and Geraldine's necklace
SWORD (short for Sentient World Observation and Response Department) is SHIELD's space division, tasked with protecting the Earth from extraterrestrial threats. The organization acts more or less independently from SHIELD and has had close associations with characters like Captain Marvel and the X-Men in the comics. The logo seen shows Marvel will pay more attention to the group after all the emphasis on SHIELD so far in the movies.
Indestructible Vision
For that joke about Vision's indestructible head, the android actually died in 'Avengers: Infinity War' as Thanos (Josh Brolin) ruthlessly plucked the Mind stone off his head. For now, we are sure Vision is not even alive and all this is just in Wanda's head.
