The first and only 2020 Vice Presidential debate that took place in Salt City Lake may not have witnessed as much chaos as the first presidential debate between President Donald Trump and his Democratic rival Joe Biden, but Sen Kamala Harris and vice-president Mike Pence have still managed to gather decent amount of attention.

Even though the rules of the debate were made clear to the contestants at the beginning of the event, Harris and Pence couldn’t help but cut each other off as they spoke at length about a wide range of topics. While moderator Susan Page had to remind them about the rules and guidelines set by the Commission on the Presidential Debate one too many times, Harris asked Pence to let her speak on multiple occasions. Soon the VP Debate 2020 became subject of trolls and memes on social media as the Internet users began discussing its comical aspects. Majority of the users expressed interest in watching Saturday Night Live do a sketch around the rather interesting debate between Harris and Pence ahead of the November 3 elections.

And who could pull Harris’s role off better than the comedian and actress Maya Rudolph herself? It isn’t the first time Rudolph would be seen mimicking Biden’s VP pick as she recently returned on the show to reprise her role as Harris along with Jim Carrey as Biden, following the first presidential debate. During her appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live’, Rudolph spoke about returning to SNL amid pandemic and noted: “So, it was pretty wild and SNL is such an amazing place and the people that run it, the crew that makes that show tick, I can’t believe what they were able to accomplish on Saturday and it was incredibly difficult because of the COVID protocol."

As soon as the debate between Harris and Pece started to gain momentum, people took to Twitter to express their anticipation with respect to watching Rudolph do Harris's impression in one of her forthcoming sketches for SNL. One of her fans noted, "Maya Rudolph as Kamala Harris on SNL is going to be FIRE with these faces." Another added, "I can't wait to see Maya Rudolph this week on #SNL" and one excited fan tweeted, "Maya Rudolph is at home taking notes, getting ready for her cameo on SNL as Kamala Harris this weekend."

Meanwhile, the rest of them couldn't stop talking about the striking resemblance Rudolph and Harris share, especially after watching the Sen in the debate. One wrote, "I can’t even remember who plays Pence in SNL. I can’t un-see Maya Rudolph when I look at Harris." Another said, "She sounds like Maya Rudolph even, it’s uncanny." One tweeted, "Is it just me or is Kamala Harris looking more and more like Maya Rudolph? Especially from the side."
