'I slept with potato': Theresa Caputo's daughter Victoria shares bizarre way to get rid of 'toxins' from body
LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: Victoria Caputo, the daughter of 'Long Island Medium' star Theresa Caputo, posted a bizarre image to her Instagram Stories, revealing how she got rid of toxins from her body. On Friday, December 23, 2022, Victoria, 28, posted a picture of the potato chunks she had been wearing in her socks to detoxify her body in her Instagram Stories.
The image taken by the Long Island native showed six potato slices that looked as if they had been burned while being held over an open flame. The fact that the potato rounds were spread out on white linen brought attention to how fully the starchy vegetable had turned black. In the caption, Victoria said she put the potatoes in her socks overnight to help her body get rid of "toxins." The reality star's daughter wrote, "So i slept with potato's in my socks last night to take out some toxins anddddddd these are the results [barf emoji]." All six slices had turned into a filthy color and it seemed like the vegetable did its part based on the appearance. Science has, however, not established that socks loaded with potatoes actually work in removing toxins from the body.

It is uncertain where the custom of placing potatoes on one's feet to heal the body first emerged. Healthline reported that the remedy may have originated during the European bubonic plague outbreak of the late Middle Ages. The majority of people at the time were clueless about bacteria and viruses and how they spread disease.
According to Healthline, the custom of applying potatoes to the foot may have been inspired by a reflexology-based technique in traditional Chinese medicine. The soles of the feet are believed to be entry points to various parts of the body in this therapeutic science.
Potatoes are packed with nutrients and undoubtedly offer a variety of health advantages. Even consuming potato juice that is still raw can strengthen your immune system. But there doesn't seem to be any scientific support for the practice of stuffing uncooked potatoes in socks.
Many people who have tried the potato treatment report that it eliminated their cold or flu symptoms. However, there is no scientific proof that this traditional treatment is effective. Dr Ruth MacDonald, a nutrition expert at Iowa State University, stated, "The potatoes in your socks cannot cure a cold or any kind of illness," according to Healthline.
