Vanessa Bryant keeps Kobe's legacy alive by promoting book series he helped create through Granite Studios
Vannesa Bryant is honoring her late husband Kobe Bryant by promoting a new book that he helped create and publish through his Granity Studios. Two months after the NBA legend’s death, his 37-year-old widow took to Instagram on March 31 to share a promo video clip showing the cover of 'The Wizenard Series: Season One' written by Wesley King.
At the bottom of the clip, a message read: “SOMETIMES WINNING MEANS DEFEATING YOURSELF.” The short video also includes a picture of a black and white image of a basketball hoop and a young boy with a basketball.
The loving wife of the late legend shared the clip along with a message. “Welcome back to Dren! We hope you are all ready to catch up with the West Bottom Badgers for another magical basketball season. The #Wizenard Series: Season One is OUT NOW.🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡#KobeBryant #GranityStudios #Kobeinc,” the caption read.
The book is the latest installment of the series which helps children learn lessons by combining Kobe’s love of basketball with the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise. The previous one was ‘The Wizenard Series: Training Camp’, which was released in 2019 and quickly became a New York Times bestseller.
All the books of the series are being published by Kobe’s Granity Studios, which Vanessa mentioned in her caption. It's the same company that produced the late basketball star’s Academy Award-winning short film, ‘Dear Basketball’.
Before his tragic death in January 2020 at the age of 41, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others, in a helicopter crash in California, Kobe had talked about his love for Granity Studios in his Instagram post. “I created Granity Studios as a way of teaching valuable life lessons to the next generation. Our stories represent a competitive mindset about being the best at what you do,” his caption read for a November 2019 pic that showed him posing and smiling while surrounded by books.
Recently, in March, Vannesa shared another post that showed her late husband talking about teaching daughter Gianna basketball. She posted the heartwarming video online to mark the two-month anniversary of their tragic death.
“She started out playing soccer, which is one of my favorite sports as well. But then when she asked about learning the game of basketball, I started teaching her piece by piece, and she started enjoying it and loving it and now she plays every day,” Kobe can be heard saying in the throwback video.
“It’s been a joy to watch her grow and to be there every day for that process. Her temperament is a lot like mine. She’s extremely competitive, very fiery, and backs down from no challenge. She’s a good mix of me and a good mix of her mama, so that makes her even more competitive than I am,” Kobe can be heard saying.
The clip, which was captioned with two broken hearts, came just a few days after it was announced that new guardians had been appointed for the couple's surviving daughters, Natalia, Bianka, and Capri, to represent their interests in their late father's trust.
