US soccer star Alex Morgan expecting first child with husband Servando Carrasco: 'She’s the best World Cup gift I could have asked for'

Alex Morgan took to Instagram to reveal that she is expecting baby number one with her husband, Servando Carrasco.

Baby on board! US Women's soccer star Alex Morgan and fellow soccer-pro and husband, Servando Carrasco took to Instagram to reveal they are expecting their first child. Morgan posted a series of pictures making the announcement.  In the pictures, Morgan held a board that read, "baby girl, April 2020". 

Meanwhile, Carrasco held a baby's bodysuit that read "ready or not". The pair beamed with happiness as they smiled for the photograph. Morgan captioned the picture as "We are already in love and we haven’t even met her yet. The newest member of the Carrasco family, coming soon."

Carasco shared a similar picture and expressed his joy of welcoming a baby soon as he wrote, "the family is enlarged". In another picture he wrote, "let the adventure begin". People were quick to congratulate the couple on this wonderful news. 

MJ Day, the editor of Sport's Illustrated swimsuit issue wrote, "Verified Omgomgomg! Best news EVER! This is really your YEAR!!!!!! Xoxoxo Congrats Mama!" Andi Sullivan added, "SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH! This is too beautiful."



 

Speaking to People, the pair remarked that they were looking forward to becoming parents. “We are so overjoyed to grow our family,” Morgan told the outlet.  “She’s the best World Cup gift I could have asked for.”

Morgan has had an eventful year as just three months ago her team won  FIFA Women’s World Cup championship. Following the victory, Morgan spoke about inspiring other girls to enter sports.  She remarked that she and her teammates “are always trying to encourage and inspire the next generation of girls to play sports. And I think that we are doing our job in that way.”

Morgan has also spoken about the inequality that women have to face in sports. “We have this platform and we’ve been able to use that and really show the magnitude of the inequalities that we have in the sport,” she said. With already a win this year in her bag, the baby news is definitely a cherry on top and undoubtedly their baby girl is going to make the couple stronger.
