Twitter to auction giant bird statue, @-shaped sculpture planter and espresso machines from San Francisco HQ
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: This holiday season brings more joy to Twitter fans, as the social media platform announces it will auction a range of items to offload stuff from its San Francisco HQ. It will include several of its memorabilia items supplies, including a large Twitter bird statue and a giant ‘@’ sculpture planter. Twitter enthusiasts can also indulge themselves in other offerings, such as IMac screens, a projector, standing desks, multiple espresso machines, and an electric bike charging station.
As per Heritage Global Partners, the organization will carry the online auction, which opens on January 17, next year. It further revealed that opening bids for all items range between $25 and $50. Elon Musk took over Twitter in a record $44 billion purchase, and immediately introduced a series of cost-cutting steps. His first move was to let go half of its staff, which triggered a group of ex-employees suing the company. They claim the company has violated multiple labor state and federal laws.

“Twitter has had a massive drop in revenue, due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, even though nothing has changed with content moderation and we did everything we could to appease the activists,” Musk gave an update on November 4.
Nick Dove, President, HGP, in an interview with Fortune said whoever believes the auction is part of preserving finances is a ‘moron’. “We don’t determine which assets a company doesn’t need. Just like a real estate broker doesn’t determine which houses or buildings their client would need to sell,” he told CNN.
Recently, the Twitter boss shared a meme where it read ‘Twitter’s darkest secrets’ etched on a headstone as he holds a shovel. It suggested the transition and the public perception of Twitter is dying a slow death since its takeover. Earlier, he had described Twitter run by his predecessor as ‘both a social media company and a crime scene.’
Musk had also called out on staffers who leaked organization data to the media, and warned them of dire legal consequences. “As evidenced by the many detailed leaks of confidential Twitter information, a few people at our company continue to act in a manner contrary to the company’s interests and violation of their NDA,” Zoe Schiffer, the managing editor of Platformer wrote, sharing the email contents in a Twitter thread. “This will be said only once," Musk warned, "If you clearly and deliberately violate the NDA that you signed when you joined, you accept liability to the full extent of the law & Twitter will immediately seek damages.”
