Outpouring of grief for slain Georgia highschooler Elijah DeWitt: 'He didn't deserve this'
LAWRENCEVILLE, GEORGIA: The shooting incident at the parking lot of Dave & Buster's outside of the Sugarloaf Mills Mall in Lawrenceville in which Elijah DeWitt of Jefferson High School was killed has left many in mourning from his family, girlfriend, friends and associates from the school football program. His unfortunate death has left many grieving including his parents who have stated to have forgiven the killers of their son.
South Carolina police have arrested suspects Kemare Bryan, 18, and Chandler Richardson, 19 in connection to the murder of DeWitt who was a rising football star at his school. DeWitt was focused solely on improving himself as a player and ranking up the leagues before being shot down surprisingly while on a date with his girlfriend. Twitter users have been rapidly commenting on a post by the Jefferson Football page paying tribute to the fallen star. The post reads: “The Jefferson High School Football program is heartbroken as we mourn the loss of one of our own, Elijah DeWitt. The DeWitt family is in our thoughts and prayers. We appreciate your understanding as we respect the family’s privacy during this time.”

In response to the emotional message penned by the football association of Jefferson High School, one user wrote, “This breaks my heart Help these kids and these guns!! Gun laws need to change!! I cry for this family and all the other families who lost a child at such a young age My condolences to the Dewitt family." Another user revealed, "I met this young man twice. The first time was at CN1 7v7 the 2nd at South Carolina. He was so personable and engaging. Just an all around great kid that didn’t deserve this. Blessings go out to his family and everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him."
In shock and disbelief, one user offered his sympathy by saying, "I was really taken back by this news today. I was just in the school last friday asking about him. I just want you guys to know, that I am thinking about you all and praying for the family during this difficult time!" Another one said, "I am so heartbroken for this tremendous loss. Our first game this season was against Jefferson, and I remember sitting at that stadium looking up #2 because he was so impressive on that field. I am covering all of you in prayer, and my heart is broken." One user added, "This breaks my heart. His parents went to my high school. He looks so much like his dad did back then. Praying for them. I can’t even imagine the pain they must be feeling."
