Who is Twitch streamer Kaceytron? Here's why Internet is calling her 'queen of cosplay' after sexism row
A well-known female gamer who goes by the name Kaceytron on the video game streaming platform Twitch has called out sexism at the workplace. However, she still reigns the world of online gaming as she scores a win in the popular game 'Love or Host'.
Speaking against the rampant sexism that jeopardized her career, the streamer had earlier said that men had a problem with her because she perhaps showed “too much cleavage” and so they wanted her to be removed from the streaming website when she was at the peak of her career. The claims were made by the streamer on October 9 in a series of Tweets. In the tweets, she opened up about toxicity and discrimination she faced at the workplace in an article published by Gamedindustry.biz.
Speaking on the attempts to remove her from Twitch, she wrote, "I still feel extremely wronged by how this happened to me, years later a staff member even ADMITTED TO ME that they didn't have a good reason to take away my sub button and were just trying to remove me from the site." She said there were attempts to take away her subscribe button. “In regards to me, this was probably shortly after they took my sub button away in 2014, for no clear reason. This greatly hurt my growth as a streamer when my career was taking off, I actually went back to working full time... WHEN I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO." She then shared the byte that she had given to Gamedindustry.biz in one of her tweets, "'It was one of those rare moments where some of these guys just came out with it and were honest: 'This woman is a problem because she's showing too much cleavage. And we need to come up with a way that does not bend our rules but allows us to get her off of this website.'"
She further added, “I am honestly still in disbelief, I knew at the time I was being marginalized and discriminated against but having it corroborated by another source over five years later... it made my heart sink but also validated what I knew to be true." She continued, "I almost gave up streaming at the time, I almost gave up on my dream because of sexism."

This is not the first time that Amazon-owned Twitch has been accused of a toxic environment. Gamesindustry.biz reported, based on first-hand information they received from employees of Twitch, that the streaming platform "is not a welcoming environment for women". The report said that the company showed "an explicit tolerance for misogyny". The explosive report added that "women streamers were routinely called ‘boob streamers’ by men in the office. One employee recalled instances of male co-workers joking about streamers sleeping with people to get favors or slut-shaming them."
After the sexism row, Kaceytron’s game was still going strong. She earned huge support as she was able to defeat fellow gamer from Twitch, Karl Jacobs, in the highly popular game show ‘Love or Host’. Kaceytron tweeted about it on October 11: "Just when you thought I couldn't top myself I do the impossible once again. Can't wait for you guys to see. I'm going to win Karl Jacobs' heart for the 2nd time."
