Twin infant boys found dead in car outside Sunshine House Early Learning Academy
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA: Twin infant boys were found dead inside a parked Cadillac outside a daycare centre on Wednesday, September 1 evening, reports say. Officers were called to the scene just after 5.30 pm after receiving a call reporting the sight of two unresponsive children. The infants, whose identities are not public yet, were declared dead at the scene.
The dead bodies of the infants were found in a parked car outside the Sunshine House Early Learning Academy in the Blythewood suburb of Columbia. The academy is part of a chain that operates more than 100 daycares across nine different states. A similar incident was reported in September last year when a nine-year-old Idaho boy's dead body was found covered in bruises and vomit, following which his father and step-mother were arrested. In March 2020, a Missouri mom was arrested after prosecutors had reason to believe that she intentionally drove her car into a Kansas river on August 3 with both her children inside the car. Liliana Carrillo, 30 was arrested for allegedly killing her three young children in the San Fernando Valley neighbourhood of Reseda, Los Angeles in April 2021.

Police have not determined whether the daycare center had any involvement in the deaths yet, reports say. The Richland County coroner's office confirmed the deceased kids are twin boys. The car, a Cadillac Escalade, in which the bodies were found was removed from the scene for processing as the investigation goes on. The cause of death of the twin boys has not been released yet.
Authorities noted that this is an ongoing investigation and further details will be released as they become available. The Richland County Coroner's Office scheduled a press conference Thursday, September 2 to reveal more details about this case. As soon as the news broke, other parents, whose children attended the daycare center reached the scene to offer condolences for the family.
"I started praying for the family, praying for God to give them peace, for the teachers that those children may be in their classes. A lot of people are hurting right now. No parent plans to bury their children. We plan for our children to bury us. This is just really tough, " Bonita Belton, a parent said.
